I'm not sure if this has ever been posted before, but I'd like to know what other cars you guys have owned in the past. =)
Here's my story:
(1999-2001) 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra when I was 16
(2001) 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calias when I was 17 (with power leather seats and 70k miles! Almost a classic till it was stolen 4 months after I got it.) Yes, I used to be a big old V8 junkie. I don't know how I ended up loving a hatchback, hahaha.
(2001-2004) 1990 Ford Tempo - Hey, it was free, and despite all the work it needed it let me save up all my money to buy a ti!
(2004-now) 1996 BMW 318ti =)
I'm pretty young, so my story is pretty short, but I'd like to hear what other ti fans used to be into driving! Sorry if this has already been posted before!

This is to the best of my knowledge...I may have missed a few. Since I'm only 25 years old these were mostly junkers. If you think that is crazy I'll also tell you that I've been pulled over more than 30 times.

1987 nissan sentra: red, 4 door, 1.6l carburated, 5 speed. i absolutely LOVED it as it was my first car.
1986 buick electra park avenue: blue, 2 door, 3.8l, 4 speed auto. another car i loved. comfortable ride, good power, and huge leather bench seats.
1980 datsun/nissan 280zx: gray/silver 2 tone, 2 door 2 seater, 2.8 I-6, 3 speed auto. drove it for a summer. a few problems with it but i still loved it. still have it actually. should get rid of it...any takers?

not too long of a list but it's 4 cars in 5 years. and the ti is by FAR my favorite.

1972 Ford Maverick (1st car)
1988 Ford Mustang LX (RIP, was stolen and sold for parts)
1995 Eagle Talon 16v, DOC 5spd-pretty quick...once got it up to 125-130mph on IH35 here in Texas. Whew!!! won't try that again!
1984 Honda CRX...No frills just a get me work and back car.
and NOW!!! a 1996 BMW 318ti Active, Boston Green, 205 55 16's off of a 2000 323i. 165000+and running strong. Not too many ricers will mess with me here...was in Houston a while back cruising down Richmond Ave. and took a VW Jetta, Eclipse and Honda CRX off the line and I'm only running stock right now. Will fog my intake soon with other mods soon coming.

year, model, engine/tranny, miles acquired, miles driven
1981 Ford Mustang Lx (I6 4-spd manual) 110k miles, 4k miles
1972 Ford Mustang coupe(v8, 3 spd auto) 120k, 100 miles
1984 Nissan 300zx (v6, 5 spd manual) 250k, 15k miles
1985 Toyota Celica GT (I4, 4 spd auto) 105k, 50k miles
1985 Toyota MR2 (I4, 5 spd manual) 110k, 2k miles
1985 Toyota MR2 (I4, 5 spd manual, yes I had two) 93k, 3k miles
1986 Nissan 300zx turbo (v6, 5 spd manual) 45k, 30k miles
1983 Toyota Tercel 4x4 (I4, 6 spd manual) 220k, 10k miles
1991 Honda Prelude SI (I4, 5 spd manual) 110k, 13k miles
1993 Acura Legend (V6, 5 spd manual, yes manual!) 150k, 13k miles
1995 BMW 318ti Club Sport (I4, 5 spd manual) (current car) 115k, 8k miles
1988 Toyota Pickup 4x4 (I4, 5 spd manual) (current car) 194k, 3k miles
So total miles when purchased 1.622 million, miles I have driven 151k. Not counting the two vehicles I own, the sale price - the purchase price adds up to about $3,500 expense to me for all the vehicles. I am a fan of cheap used cars. I don't think I will ever buy new.

90 Honda Pacific Coast motorcycle, driven through winter after loss of Prelude.

I'll throw in the girlfriend-later-wife's cars too, since we've always shared...
1983 Dodge Omni, auto, AM radio, college car from mom. The thing was like a mule- drove it 70K miles around the country till it blew a head gasket at 101K. RIP.
1986 VW Golf, 5 spd, 82k - 162k learned to drive stick on it, manual crank sunroof!
1988 Acura Integra, 3 door, 5 spd. One of the best all around cars ever produced IMO. Cheap, practical, fast, classic clean design, handled like a go cart and still fit 10' 2x4's INSIDE the car. Bought at 62k, rear ended at 186k. RIP.
1992 VW Corrado SLC, VR6, 5 spd, owned 20k-68k. A monster of a car. Cannot understand why VW did not follow with another sport coupe given it's cult following. Fun as hell till 60k when it got very expensive to maintain.
1996 BMW 318ti California Edition (current)
1999 VW Passat GLS VR6, tiptronic. Bought new, now at 57k. Solid sedan, enjoy long tips, now valued same as my older ti. (current)

(1995-1999) 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - huge tank of a car, got it when I was 12 and it sat in the garage for a few years.
(1999-present) 1995 BMW 318ti - Bought it when it had 32k on it, and it has just under 80k on it right now. Now i'm looking to fix it up nicely, sell it, and buy a 2004 WRX STi !!
Hey, E.F. The STI is quite small inside. You will miss the room of the ti...
Let's see. I may have to add cars to this list as my memory returns...

1968 chrysler imperial lebaron
1967 Plymouth Belvedere (sleeper from hell...)
1978 VW rabbit

198? RAM 50 p/u
1971 Plymouth Roadrunner

1968 dodge dart
1974 dodge dart sport

1995(ish) Land Rover Defender 110 3-door

There's a nice silver R32 near here (in WV) That I should be able to get cheap (It's been sitting for four weeks now...). Maybe the 3rd new car?

I guess you like your Mopars?
Yeah, you could say that.
I've resigned myself to something more tame than a bored big-block...
I'm searching for an (original) 1971 340 demon in curiuos yellow. I'm guessing less than ten were made, so I may waste my life looking for one.
This color was special order only. It was SO bright that it actually HURTS your eyes to look at in sunlight. It was BANNED by the DOT and was never re-used again. I MUST have it...
I have seen it live. It's a nasty-ish highliter yellow. It really does HURT your eyes to loook at on a sunny day. No kidding. Awesome color.
If you see one (and you won't soon forget it if you do) let me know!

ooo R32s.. those are nice. I looked at those, but I'm still in love with the 300 all-wheel drive horsepower the STi puts out. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds makes me cringe :D
I'd give anything just to drive some of the cars you've owned though J!m. The '71 Cuda especially, love roadrunners too..
Don't get too jealous. The 'cuda was nice (and fairly rare- factory black with green interior, six cylinder with air, but manual brakes and steering- really weird build. HAD to be special ordered.
The 71 RR was a 383 car, again manual brakes (crazy) and steering. But I always liked that body style of the '71 B-body.
The later RR was a 360HP I think. Sold it to a guy I worked with who drove it into a guard rail... He bought my '71 Demon as well. Maybe I can get that back and make a replica of my dream car... I have the RARE front dics brake set-up and 8 3/4 rear with the german helmet brake drums... Hell, I'll throw a 440 in it if it's going to be a faker anyway. That'll peel the paint off yer house when it goes by when I get done with it...

This is fun. Painful, but fun:
1985 Mercury Lynx wagon (go figure)- oh, that was a bad car. Got 186k out of it, but it hurt me more than I hurt it.
1984 CRX- fun
1976 280Z- more fun. Brother totalled it and gave me a guitar.
1984 Chevrolet Chevette- don't ask
1987 Honda Accord Lxi- Great car until totalled
1988 Honda Accord Lxi- Great car until totalled
1986 Taurus Wagon- bad, bad, bad. Lost a transmission during a really good first date.
1987 Acura Integra- really good car until it died at 175k
1993 Honda Accord SEI- Great car and I didn't even total it
1993 Lexus LS400- Great car until totalled
1992 Honda EX- Great car, sold it intact
1992 Lexus SC400- wow, that was fun
1997 Lexus LS400- very nice, like the nicest Buick ever made.
1999 VW Passat- surprisingly addictive, my wife's car
1997 BMW 318ti- my new favorite.

I'm 18, and the only other car I've ever owned (currently using it for pizza delivery job, and trying to sell) is a 1986 Audi 5000s. I bought it for $400 in horrible, smashed up shape, and me and my dad fixed it up into the $1500 car it is today. Its still a pile and it still breaks down alot, but it was the car that introduced me to alot of the basic and more advanced (swapping power steering racks) car mechanic techniques.
1993 Geo Storm GSi. This was my baby and still the best car that I have ever owned. It was the only auto that I've ever had but it would out burn out anything else (3700 rpm stall TC will do that)
1982 Datsun 280ZX got this right after the geo got in a wreck. It was a decent car, but it had some rust bebbling through and it was a PITA to work on. But when it ran it was awesome, LSD for a 1st gen 300ZX, 4.33:1 rear end, and 235/60/14's :2gun:
1996 BMW 318ti It was pure chance that I got this car. It was sitting in a used car lot and I went in thinking it'd be kinda fun just to drive. Anyways long story short I owned the car 4 days later :joy:

1995 BMW 318ti base (Wife's daily driver)
1995 BMW 330ti Club Sport (My other fun car)
2004 Honda Element SSM EX-S 4WD 5-spd
Tercel had an accident, insurance totaled it, I bought and sold it to the body shop guy down the road. I see it every time I drive by and makes me feel good that it's not scrap metal by now. I got a Honda Element to replace it.

Past cars:
'72 Opel model 57 sport coupe (Manta)
'75 Opel model 51 sedan (Ascona)
'74 Opel Manta
'77 SAAB 99EMS
'71 Opel model 57 rallye (Manta)
'72 Volvo 144
'71 Volvo 142
'84 VW GTI
'88 VW Scirocco 16V
'91 VW GTI 16V
'92 VW Corrado VR6
Present cars:
'88 Porsche 911 Carrera
'71 SAAB 96 V4 (ground up restoration by me)
'95 BMW 318ti Sport (purchased new early '96) w/ M Technic body parts, '95 M3 double spoke wheels
I have to say the 318ti has been my favorite car, will never get rid of it. Other cars I have owned have had more power but don't come close to the balance of the ti. The ti reminds me alot of the Opel Manta's I have owned, rear wheel drive, light weight, and great handling. And the Opel ruled SCCA showroom stock (when this class was created) in the early 70's. I waited a long time to afford a BMW, and will always own at least one.

I still have the 1988 16V Scirocco. In fact, I am currently selling off on Eaby all of my excess parts. The next step is to auction off the car. Love the car, still in the driveway. Here are a few pics of it now.
What happened to your Scirocco? I really miss mine. I might buy another scirocco or a corrado sometime soon.

I just realized, we made the same upgrade, one decade newer.
Me: 1988 VW Scirocco to 1998 318ti
You: 1987 VW Scirocco to 1997 318ti.
I actually wanted the 1999 318ti. Something about having the last year is cool. My Scirocco, had every option there was and was last year for USA
87 Volkswagon Scirocco 16V
97 BMW 318ti
These are the cars I have owned in my 9 years of driving.

You're right, thats pretty crazy we did the same upgrade. That scirocco was a pretty damn fast little car. Lighter then the ti I think its faster then the ti too. I can't compare the 2 though. Since you have both what do you think? I know the scirocco is faster at going from 0-60 then a 944 Porsche.
Your scirocco looks good. Its not that often you see a nice looking scirocco. Ill have to post a few pics of mine if I can dig them up. Mine was the silver color which had a tint of gold in it. I still see mine driving around every now and then. Its funny because I put a universal exhaust on it back in 97 and it still on it and its a fart mobile, it's so loud.

From what I remember, the specs Road and Track gave for 0-60 on the Scirocco 16v was 7.6, so it is a bit quicker than the ti, but it doesn't handle as well. The 1.8 16V was rated at 127 hp, I think the Scirocco weighed approx. 2300 lbs (don't have my library here at work to check), so it only beats the ti because of the weight advantage. I raced an E30 M3 off the lights in my Scirocco in downtown Milwaukee around 1989-90 and kept even for a block or so. Oh, the memories.

I would deffinetly agree that the ti handles a lot better then the Scirocco does. Just the fact that the suspension was knide squirly and front wheel drive cars pull to the right I think the right, I havent driven a front wheel drive car for years. Thats sweet you were able to keep up with the E30 M3. The E30 M3s are hard to find. The 4 cylinder M3s were dope. If I could find one for sale Id buy one.

The 318ti may handle better when comparing both cars stock, but the 318ti I have now is scary compared to the Scirocco I have. The first time I took my BMW out for a drive on the parkway, it scared me. I took a few curves at about 60mph, and the body sway almost gave me a heart attack. My Scirocco has lowered springs and sport struts/shocks, it handled great. The one and only other rear wheel drive car I have owned was a Triumph TR7.
When I noticed what a pig the 318ti was to drive, I compared the weights of the two cars on my titles. If I recall properly, the BMW is about 500lbs heavier. More safety features add weight, among other things.
My car is for sale, checkout the pics if interested. I was considering a Carrado, but I heard they are expensive to fix, and parts are scarce.

If you are interested in an E30 M3, there are 28 of them for sale across the states right now. I always liked these cars too. I think the reason I kept even with the guy was the tall gearing of the E30 M3. He probably would have killed me from 60mph up.

199? Olds Aurora (Free Car provided by my company) 296,000miles!!!!! super fun motor
1999 Chevy Malibu (Again free work car)

This was the first car I actually bought. Bought the ti back in September 2003 and have loved it ever since. I will own it til she dies. Then bring her back to life with a new larger motor. It has around 140,000 miles now so plenty of happy years to go.

1984-85: 1984 Ford Laser (Australian ford derived from Mazda 323)
1984-1984: raced in 1981 Honda accord hatchback with ported heads, new cam, header, suspensions, no noise, but fast, bumped from 1600-1800. Can do 135 on straightaway easily, until it rolled over seven times on a hairpin turn.
1984-84: rallied in 1979 toyota corolla RWD, no mods just elevated suspensions. Solid car and engine never broke down. Even when driven in mud many times.
1986-92: 1986 VW GTI loved the car, no mods but got it up to 120MPH on I-70 Ohio
1992-94: 1986 AUDI 4000, no frills, solid car, got it when 50,000, totaled at 130,000
1994-95: 1984 VW GTI rabbit, awesome car, ported the heads, new cam didn't know the mileage, got it with Odo meter not working, totaled one year later
1995-1998: Merkur XR4Ti, my first turbocharged car ever (maybe last), really fast....going straight. Got it at 90K, turbo went out at 135K
1998-2001: back to 1986 GTI, loved the car, no power steering, ported intake and exhaust........Got it up to 130 MPH on I-495 In washington
2001-2004: 1991 Audi 80 with 2.3 L 5 Cyl. Solid engine, funky electricals, replaced cam, removed resonator, ported exhausts, Bilsteins, still waning at high speeds. Got it at 78K sodl it for $500 at 156K
2004-present: 1997 318ti.....yippppeee!!!! Never driven such a solid, welt designed and built car.

I'll try to start at the beginning...looks like a lot of you shared the same storied path of car ownership that I have! These are not in exact order since some of them came and went so fast I barely remember them.
1: 1971 Chevy Chevelle (dropped a 350 in it...first easy swap - learned not to judge a book by it's cover: shiny red paint = nasty bondo underneath!)
2: 1984 Chevy Cavalier (learned to drive stick)
3: 1987 Dodge Dakota (Dropped a 360 in it...first moderately difficult swap)
4: 1976 Plymouth Trailduster (beast)
5: 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan (pimp..long wheelbase, tint, fugly wheel covers, futon mattress in the back)
6: 1991 Ford Festiva (sister gave it to me - dropped a DOHC 1.8 in it...first very hard and unsuccessful swap)
7: 1989 Ford Festiva (got a 5-spd this time, ripped out the interior and went nuts)
8: 1985 Chevy Celebrity wagon (police auction - $200)
9: 1990 Honda CRX Si (totalled)
10: 1987 Volvo 740 turbo wagon (dropped a chevy V8 in it - moderately difficult but successful)
11: 1987 VW Jetta GLi
12: 1993 Honda Del Sol
13: 2002 Mazda Protege 5 (wife's car - current)
14: 2001 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T
15: 1990 Volvo 740 turbo wagon
16: 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (nice car - hated the payments)
17: 1976 BMW 2002 - black
18: 1976 BMW 2002 - green (current parts car)
19: 1976 BMW 2002 - blue (current)
20: 1996 318ti auto (current)
21: 1996 318ti 5-spd (picking up this week)
I think there were a few more and my dad and my wife could rattle them off but these are the ones that left any impression on me. We've always wanted one or two ti's though, ever since they came out, and they're finally affordable. So I started out Chevy and ended up Bimmer. I guess that's a good progression. Fun thread! Memories...

I personally think that the Ti is a great companion car for the E30 M3. Small, nimble, very fuel efficient (thank God!). Mines gunna stay in stock form, so it may lack the high-revv power of the M, but it has BMW's signature handling.
Plus, its practically in a class of its own for being a rear-wheel drive hatch.
I love my Ti!

1955 Packard Clipper. Never ran while I owned it.
1968 Fiat 850 Spyder. Bought it not running. Got it running. Owned it 5 years. Guy I sold it to commited suicide in it.
1978 Fiat 131S. My father bought this for me new. Had this one for a very very long time. Drove the crap out of it. Lots of off roading! 2 engines, 2 suspensions. I still have the title. Last time I saw the car it was sitting at a friend's shop in Palm Desert. That was years ago.
1983 Renault Fuego Turbo. First new car I ever bought. Only car I regret buying. Transmission went a week after the waranty. Renault wouldn't help out at all. It kept breaking down, I kept driving my Fiat and I kept making payments.
1972 Fiat 124 Spyder. Bought with salvage title. Got it running. Drove it about a week. Used for parts. Traded as junk.
1972 Pontiac Catalina. Bought this for $500 when the Renault broke down again and there weren't any parts available. I had a garage full of Fiats, but neither of them had motors. Kept for a few years eventually gave it to friend.
1968 Saab 95. Good beater car. Would have been great if the parts were less expensive. Another backup for the Renault that rarely ran.
19?? Saab 99. Another salvage car. Never got this one running. Too expensive.
At this point I had a back yard full of cars. I'm sure I've left out a few.
1974 Fiat 124 Spyder. Another Salvage title car. Flipped the guy for double or nothing and I won. Free car. Put the High performance engine that was supposed to go in my 131 in it. Drove for a while, pulled the motor out when I got my
1978 Fiat 124 Spyer. Bought from a customer at a friend's shop. Paid very little. Debbie and I drove this one for about 4 years before we sold it. Nice car.
1986-1987 Fiat / Bertone X1/9 Bought this one grey market. Guy that sold it to me got about a dozen from Malcom Bricklin as part of a settlment over the right to import the Yugo. My car was originaly an auto show car. It was shown first as an '86. The next year they put an '87 interior in it and took it around to the shows again. I kept this little car 9 years. My favorite Fiat.
1991 VW Jetta GLI. The one with the 16V motor and the good gearbox. Not an e30 but fun to drive. BBS rims, Recaro seats. Great stereo. Car was stolen twice. I'm not doing that again.
1994 Dodge Ram 2500 P/U. Pulled a horse trailer with it.
1990 BMW 535iA. Still own it.
1996 BMW 318ti. In my garage with a blown motor.
2004 BMW 325i. Notice a trend?

'92 Cadillac El Dorado - given to me with little over 100k on it... was a blast. Very comfortable, mean sounding v8... Gas guzzler, 9-10mpg, haha. Was definitely fun though, still miss it, but not really in light of my new love-affair... traded in towards the first car I bought on my own ---
'97 318ti Active, Hellrot - Got with 37,811mi on it, had it for less than a year and now I'm over 46k, haha... still under warranty. I went on my car-hunt for college knowing exactly what I wanted; German, Manual, Low Miles, relatively recent. I went to Audi, and almost bought an A4 sport package (2002 I believe) for 19,500... I was about to purchase it after the test drive, and they bait 'n switched me up to 23,000 for the price. Dealer claimed he pulled the wrong card. May be so, but bad business, I reported them to the better business bureau. After that I went to VW, and BMW at the same day. At the Bimmer dealership, I walked in not execting much luck. I asked them if they had anything late nineties, 3-series, low-mileage, manual tranny... They directed me to the lot, where my barely driven baby was sitting, looking more mint than some of the cars in the show room. Whoever had it before me really took great care of it. They said there were other interested parties, and I told them not anymore. Bought it the next day. I lucked out big time with this one, barely had to look for it.

1995 bmw 318ti: and here we are. hellrot, 5 speed. love it. had it for the past 3 years. now totaled by hail and STILL driving it :D
not too long of a list but it's 4 cars in 5 years. and the ti is by FAR my favorite.
My friend actually wants to buy a 280zx...he doesn't have any money of course but I'm sure if I got him an offer he'd get a job and save. :)
My old car was my dads, 87 cutlass cruiser wagon! It wasnt the v8 but the v6 was a 2.8L monster that I drove into the ground. Good times. Got my ti maybe 2 1/2 months ago (im only 17) and still loving it. No major problems beisde my stupid regulator arm being bent, and my front grill falling off....but those are fixable with a small amount of cash.

My only other car was a red 1984 318i. I blew the engine, because I didnt have any oil in the motor, coming home from Fresno lol. $1400 later for a rebuilt engine, and 3-4 months later, I sold it on ebay and got about $3050, sadly. A little more than I put into the engine and stereo.
My current girlfriend didnt like the fact that my ex girlfriend had been in the backseat of it though lol. It wasntworth hearing her bitch about it over and over and over. So I bought the TI...... Nice little upgrade I would say, only costing $950 more.

All your cars are on the wrong side of the pond!!!
Here's my English take on this:
1: 1986 Ford Fiesta 1.4s (with the engine out of an XR2 - don't tell the insurance man!) which I swapped for:
2: 1972 VW Beetle - always been obsessed with the Bug since I was a kid, so had to have one when the opportunity arose (by the way - hence the name bluedub, cos it was a blue dub!) This sadly died of the cancer that is called rust.
3: 1986 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia - given to me by a mate whilst I looked for another car.
4: 1985 BMW 325i - also always wanted a bimma, so jumped at the chance of this. Unfortunately it only lasted 3 months, as a daft woman in a Toyota Supra wrote it off for me!
5: 1991 Renault 19 16v - seriously quick car, was so happy with it right up to the point that the head gasket blew, was never the same after that!
6: 1998 Citroen Saxo VTR - wanted something small & quick, and this is what I came up with. Great little car but had many problems for a 98 car! Cost me a bucket!!!!
7: My current trusty 318ti Sport. Had it a year now, best car I have ever owned (I think!!!!)

well, back to the subject at hand here...
My first car when I turned 17 was a 1996 Hyundai Accent.
Crappiest car ever. Blew 2 automatic trannys in 2 years  , and after the second one, i junked it and got my Black 1995 318ti, which was in October of 2004. I got it in Manual too, because I don't trust Automatics anymore.
Learned how to drive a stick in two and a half hours.

BTW, I grew up with a father who owned a small special interest car dealership but every car I listed I OWNED and PAID FOR myself--it was just easy to do with him in the business. And some or many of these I owned at the same time, but these are ALL running driving cars... I had others as parts/projects....

Although i am 17 this is my second car. My first car was 2003 Hyundai Accent. What an unsafe feeling car. Kinda fun to drive becuase it was really nimble but not very comfortable or nearly enough power. Then i found my 318ti. SO i sold the Accent and bought the ti, actually made some money too.

The '69 Camaro is still in the family, in Dad's garage. It just might get restored (again) this summer.
28 cars and I've had my license for 17 years. I can't think of a better way to get into debt.....really.

Good thread, interesting to see how many cars people have had!
My list:
1988: Austin Mini Clubman 1100
1991: Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Swing (only thing i could insure at the time)
1993: Renault 5 1.9Gtx (1.9litre engine made this pocket rocket fly, surprised quite a few people in its time and ate Fiesta XR2's for breakfast, great thing about it woz that it not a lot of people knew wot they had under the bonnet until i blew them away. Lowered 40mm and would stick to road like **** on a shovel)
1996: Renault 19 16v (Loved this car so much I kept it for 10years but sadly engine blew up December 2005 :frown: 17" OZ supertourismos gave it the touring car look and sportspack made it handle and drive like a dream, full stainless exhaust system which even my mum loved the sound of. Oh how i miss him ) but......
2006: BMW 318ti Compact Sport (Slowly making me forget my 19)

1973 Opel Kadett - donated to the scrap yard due to broken clutch cable and excessive body rust
1981 Opel Record - the ex kept that one and I have no idea what became of it
1991 Ford Escort GT - a perfectly adequate car that I sold to buy my ti
1998 318ti - ordered in the summer of '97 and just had his 10th birthday
It's a short but distinguished list. Those Opels were both great cars. I wanted to keep the Kadett as it ran really well for it's age and was fun to drive, but it was coming up for inspection and probably wouldn't have passed with all the rust.

10. 1986 VW Jetta GLI (Maintenance Hog!)
11. 1993 Honda Prelude S - put 120k (212K total) on it, never once quit running or broke down... great car

14. 1993 Toyota 4 runner -bought it to replace 1st 4runner... Tranny died on that one too...

Great head turner and very quick, but the damn thing wouldn't go over a crack in the pavement w/o scraping the frame - sold it when a set of car ramps collapsed under it, tearing the nose of the car off... missed me by inches... Kragen paid me some serious $$$ for that.
