Was out on thanksgiving and lost control due to sleet/rain. (and my m68's with 225/45/17 summer tires) I did a 180 degree turn at 65 mph and went a couple thousand feet into a light pole. I walked away with a limp in my leg but its getting better. My car was towed that night and I'm gonna grab my plates on monday, so I will upload photos of before and after. This car saved my life, both airbags went off and both bumpers fell off. But I don't think I'm gonna be able to insure another bimmer for a few years. I'm 22 years old and very grateful that my car kept me safe. The crazy thing was that I was in the middle lane and there were cars on both sides of me and I cleared them both. I was not drinking or under the influence of anything. Just should have changed to my winter set and took it slower. But for my ti that I got for $1200 on CL, ITS DONE. I will never get a deal like that again, but @ least I have my life. And like the chinese saying goes; in chaos opportunities will present themselves if you are ready to take advantage of them.

sucks to hear that man, at least you're OK. Are you going to buy it back and part it or what?

Glad to hear that you're OK. I had a similar experience in my '95 ti base on the LIE about 8 years ago. I accelerated (forgetting about the wet road)onto the LIE service road and the car fish tailed and did a 360. I was lucky the traffic that was coming did not get to where I was until after I had hit a chain link fence, and was off the road. All I had to show for it was a small chip above the rear bumper.

Sorry that your car was totaled, but the main thing is you're here and able to tell the tale.

that sucks, glad you came out pretty much unharmed though, shows how well built these cars are

Sorry to hear.
I learned my lesson one winter driving on Michelin Z rated tires in 4 inches of snow. :(
And I was only driving a few miles an hour.
It doesn't take much.

Good luck.

I went to the dump today and had to sign the title over, the whole car is ephed up. My Ti was able to keep me alive, and in a few years I plan on getting another. For now I have to pick-up the pieces and get another job, this is the first day I'm able to walk without pain. So at least things are getting back to normal.:| here are some pictures

I have a set of winter tires on stock steel rims, just didn't get a chance to put them on before thanksgiving. Its the worst when I could have prevented the crash with a simple swap. Either way I posted some pics to show the extent of the damage. I'm gonna give the rims to my neighbor, he has a 325i E36 that could help him this winter. (Early holiday present)

sorry to hear about that, also reading this has reminded me that it's snowing outside and I'm still running on summer tyres, but also that I don't have enough money to buy her any winter shoes. Doh!

Sucks man just keep on pushing I doubt you wouldn't be able to insure another one if it was a weather related accident action check your policy they have to have a section of weather related accidents
