I'm posting the link here as the GS8.34 transmission control unit (TCU) from the 318ti is interchangeable with the Z3 4 cyl TCU. The TCU pins for sport mode should be exactly the same. Wire colors may vary and connector X69 may or may not have an equivalent in the 318ti.

In Brief

* US spec TCU is replaced with a Euro spec TCU

* Sport mode wire is run from TCU to center console

* A/M switch is replaced with M3 S/E/M switch

Why would you convert?

* Sport mode is controlled by switch rather than by gear selector

* Gives sport mode for all four gears of the 4L30E

* Eliminates high revs during the warm up period.

* Improves throttle down shifting performance.

* Because sport mode, economy mode and manual mode are now controlled by wire rather than by moving the shift selector, it opens up the possibility of controlling the transmission modes remotely such as on the steering wheel etc.
