Weird Rattle

I just got my '96Ti w/ 55k on it in beautiful condition. I have had other BMWs, from 7's and 5's to this 3, and this by far has been, for the moment, the most fun to drive, even with my auto tranny. The prob I have is at stop, there is a funny rattling sound coming from the front, like a large metal plate shuddering. Its not loud, and only happens when I am at a stop and the brakes are being applied. Any clues as to what this may be?

Make sure the anti-rattle clips are on the calipers. you can see them through the wheel. But they should only rattle when the brake is not applied. The A/C clutch will also make this sound if the rivets work loose on the front of the clutch.

Also check things like heat shields on the exhaust, and shields on things near the exhaust.

Dido Cubsport - any rattling I would jack up the car and check heat shields. I had this problem for a short time.

Also check the shield over the gas filter.
