I was wondering what the reasoning is behind putting a M42 head on a M44 engine? Does it increase HP, and how hard is it to swap over. I am trying to get some HP out of my engine and still remain N/A rather than going supercharged or turbo

The head is good for switching over to a solid lifter conversion.

What are the advantages of going to a solid lifter and what all is involved in the swapping process?

Solid lifters allows the engine to rev up to 7600rpms for more power without floating the hydraulic tappets.
The process is quite complicated and parts are difficult to source. We're one of the few that's done it. I won't go into details on the forum. A conversion can be done for about $3200 USD by us. We would also suggest retunning to maximise the power with the new limits.
It would also be a good idea to get lightweight pistons or stronger conrods to keep things safe.
