Any of you guy's tranies leak out the rear main seal. Mine is leaking out the front too. Every bmw i have ever owned couldn't hold oil in it's trany for more than six months and worst it makes a mess of the bottom of my car.

yes the rear seal on my tranny (manual) leaks fluid. although it doesnt make a huge mess and the level was ok when i changed it a week ago. so far it hasnt given me too much of a problem. it just keeps the end of the transmission moist. if it's a real bad leak, i dont think the seal is that hard to replace. a shop SHOULD be able to do it at a reasonable rate but i could be wrong.

The seal that leaks the worse on manual trannys is the one on the selector rod shaft, not the rear seal. When we do a rear seal job we replace both seals, both mounts and the flex disc. Do it all while you are in there. we charge 3.5 hours to do everything

Where can i get those seals?

I see that i can get the mounts at Bavauto. do you need to pull the tranny off or not. im going to have my car up on a lift so i thought i will fix this also.

I just had the seals replaced. It may have been a couple hours. The seals are cheap. List $25.00 for the kit. Fig 13.
