Best way to clean rusty calipers?

Hey guys I would like to paint my calipers, but they have a lot of rust on them. Anyone have any advice on how to clean them?

i would sand them, and then use one of those pneumatic polishers they work really good.

I wouldn't paint them, paint looks like crap over time, If you want it done right take them off, take them to a powder coater and they will bead blast them and powder coat them and they will look awsome as well as hold up great.
