I was moving from northern UT back to Tucson yesterday, and my 1998 318ti overheated (without telling me) and consequently needs a new engine. I'm guessing I'm just going to have to abandon it here (and have posted it possibly for sale for parts), but if I DO find a used engine I can afford, does anyone have a recommendation on a trustworthy and fair priced repair shop that would install it for me? Or even an idea how I would go about finding such a shop?
Ugh - stranded, broke, and NOT happy.

A blind google search brings me to "Utah Imports" close to downtown SLC. I spoke to Dan Smith who seemed very nice. Some research on his end brings him to the price of $3500 for a used engine ($1800 incl shipping), labor ($1300) , and unknowns ($400?). (He hasn't actually seen the car.)
Anyone with experience with this shop?

Total bummer. Wish you well on getting home and the car issues. John S

Thanks for the kind words. Most inconvenient, to be sure! Still researching my options.
