I am installing a rebuilt motor this week from bavengine.com. They exclusively rebuild BMW engines. For a price (the one I opted for), you can get a performance ugraded engine (20%) more power. They seem like a very good, quality company. I will try to post results once I get my baby back on the road.
Nice, let us know what you think of it. I have been wondering about those (not that I'm about to replace/rebuild my engine, just curiosity). Good luck with it.

Just curious; what modifications do they do that they claim gives you a 20% hp boost on the ti motor?
I know they do some head work, different cams, and I believe they balance everything.

Well. Turns out the engine that was promised to ship to me between sept 9th and 13th has not shipped. Bavengine.com has had $4800 of my hard earned dollars since august 26. A month has passed and no engine. Their excuse is that "they're busy". Arg.

at this point I would make them a little less busy by recalling your funds...for $4k plus you could do an M50 swap and have the car running in a week or two.

I would need an M50 engine. I'd be in the same boat. Where to get the engine, and how much modifying to install in my car??

It's a 1996. M44 engine. Bavengine is making me extremely angry. All they can say is "We've been busy". Well, then....tell me my engine is going to take 5 weeks. Don't promise to ship it within 10 days and then a month later tell me my engine isn't even built yet! Check out their website: http//www.bavengine.com. Special order engines ship within 96 hours. BS!! Thanks everyone for letting me rant here. I'd advise you all to stay away from this company. Far, far away.

You could have a friend call and pretend to be your lawyer...I would presume that they would begin to move if they felt an impending lawsuit. Defending a suit would make them more busy than they are already.

Simply call them and tell them you need your money back in 48 hrs or ship the motor. Did you pay on credit card? If so, you can have the CC company credit your account.
