So you don't like the look of your chrome Projector shroud? Here's a guide to how to Black them out.

Stuff Needed
1) E36 Glass headlamps (ZKW, DEPO, DJ Auto)
2) Flat Head screwdriver
3) Philips Screwdriver
4) Black Paint ($1 HDTuning Paint aka Home Depot )
5) 1000grit Sand Paper

So first things first, is that you need to remove and disassemble the headlights. Which I have made a previous thread on how to "French" your hi-beams like mine.
http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29493

So now that your headlight is apart comes the fun times. You will need to first have the glass cover removed and should have something like this in front of you. Be sure to Remove the HID bulb from the projector or bulb you have .

There are three Philips screws that hold the projector assembly to the headlamp holder, remove them and carefully pull the whole assembly forward out of the holder area.

Should have something like this now in your hand or work area.

Turn it around and Remove the 3 golden top philips screws that are holding the bulb holder to the Projector. *CAUTION* Mark one of the sides of the screws to the base so you know which part goes to which. Other wise, you'll put your projector shroud in upside down. Mark as I did in this photo, just so its easier when u reassemble you don't mess anything up and its easier on you.

Now you should have the projector and Chrome housing separated now like this without the projector in it.

Now go at it with ur sand paper and scuff the whole "Chrome" cover.
Now go to a well vented area with your housing and shake your black spray paint can well. Apply one LIGHT COAT and wait for 10minutes, I waited a little long so that the paint can dry. After that Do another coat and get those spots you've missed, I did a total of 3 coats on my housing.

Now that everything is dry

Reassemble everything CAREFULLY AND TAKE YOUR TIME. This is how my housing looked after i reassemble the projector, remember be sure to put everything back the same way or else ur projector will not project light, it will be flipped upside down or sideways lol. I found this out the hard way ha

Take the Time to clean the glass inside good and reassemble everything. Now the comparison .

Before *notice the Chrome housing for the projector*

After *notice the black housing & Yes I touched up the Hi-Beam*

I took my headlights apart to see if I could do this, but my projectors seem pressed into the chrome piece that gets painted black... Am I missing something?

Put the housing back into the headlight housing, reinstall those three screws back into the housing. Viola and you should have something like this.

Is that a third bulb coming out of the side of that reflector? Interesting.

after you remove the 3 screws you should be able to remove the projector from the cover like so.
