So i've been out and about this past month or so...seen a couple of ti's around denver that i've never seen before. that got me to thinking about who here on the org is new since i was here last in 2008.
so, if you are in the denver/boulder area (or around colorado for that matter) i think we should do a head count...maybe start up the old MHti (Mile High 318ti) meets again...that has always been fun for all in the past.
so take a minute and say hi!

Sean & Cindy Lou (and Zippy's one and two)

I will probably be back with a new Ti some time in the spring. Just waiting for winter to be over, by then I should have my financial aid and tax return.

Bump for any new CO members.

wow...i'm stumped. maybe you need to purchase a new fuel filter...that could be gunked-up some. have you had a CEL come on? or, have you had the codes scanned? i think it's something other then the ICV if it worked after being cleaned the first time.
hmmmmm

elchicano
12-17-2011, 08:42 PM
Have you tried to sea foam your engine? My truck was having really bad idling problems. Instead of sea foam i went with a techron, I think that is name, fuel cleaner. I just did it right before I did my oil change. Cleared up my idling issue and haven't had any idling issues since then. Have you had any CEL's come up? I have a code reader if you need me to check the CEL codes.

black98
12-17-2011, 08:47 PM
I have the fuel filter in the trunk havnt had time to put it in. Before I cleaned the ICV the very first time i had a cel on for the ICV. I thought to clean it to save some money cleared the code gone for the week ran ok then the cel came on again for the ICV cleaned a second time no cel for a week but it started the whole yo-yo bouncen thing So i went o the hunt for a used one until i can decide if i want to keep the motor or swap it
I haven't received the used one i got. Now i am in need to get plates on the car and running correctly since my wifeys car is trying to take a crap on us

I just did it right before I did my only change. Cleared up my idling issue and haven't had any idling issues since then. Have you had any CEL's come up? I have a code reader if you need me to check the CEL codes.

I have seafoamed the car and that improved alot its actually what started the bouncen and yo-yo idle. i have a cel on right now I havent checked it to see if it is the ICV but i am going to assume that it is since the idle is all crazy

teetime4one
12-23-2011, 05:39 AM

i might be up in your neck of the woods this monday...will you be off from work? let me know.

elchicano
12-24-2011, 05:37 AM
Go to autozone ask to rent the code reader, you need to leave a deposit. Once you bring it back they will refund your money. I'm currently having issues with my truck. It decided to crap out on me this morning by leaving a trail of power steering fluid and motor oil in the drive way. I have not had a chance to look at it, I had to work all day today. My dads mechanic is coming to look at it tomorrow since I will be working tomorrow as well.

teetime4one
12-25-2011, 09:05 PM
did you get your Blazer fixed Dave?

E36/doode
12-26-2011, 12:36 AM
have you had the codes scanned?

I agree, might be best to find in independent shop that has an Autologic/ISTA type set up and do a fault code extraction. Could be DME or plugs, or fuel pump and/or filter or cold start valve. Hope that helps a bit...let us know how it works out. Good Luck!

elchicano
12-27-2011, 03:42 AM
I got it fixed today, turms out it was the return power steering hose. I had order it from the dealer because the other places I went to the fittings didn't match. It should be in working order. If you guys want to meet up late saturday afternoon I can do that. Let me know, I cant bring my code reader if you guys want.

teetime4one
12-27-2011, 04:16 AM
i wanted to take Josh (thes8ingmidget) with me to look at his car. we couldn't connect today...so i went to Eric's instead. maybe we should go to his place and help him figure out his issues. next saturday might work if it's only for a few hours...i'll ask the warden. lol

Had a ti a few years ago, and am hoping to re-acquire one... Anyhow, mine had odd idle behavior when the intake hose (after the AFM) was cracked due to age. Was a subtle thing, but when I squeezed it, it was obvious that it had cracks. Also, there is a way to get the car to "blink" CEL codes at you. I don't recall the procedure (something about a certain ignition setting, hold down the trip reset button, and it starts blinking things at you) Good luck!

Thanks for the offer - I am actually in the rare position to potentially buy back my original car - 1995, white, base (no sunroof), updated with LSD from a clubsport, and full exterior clubsport treatment. I sold it at 120k, regretted it, and my friend (current owner) is looking to move on to bigger/faster car. He put in coil-overs, lighter clutch, several other items.
If it does fall through, I will ping this list. I do like white w/o sunroof.

elchicano
01-17-2012, 04:51 AM
Sean knows all about the rare chance of buying back a ti ha! But yeah I'm currently looking into buying another Ti, since I sold mine a couple of years ago. I just need a couple more weeks to have enough money to purchase it.

teetime4one
01-17-2012, 04:53 AM
hmmm...i've seen this car on the diagonal HWY at a Wendy's...about 7 miles NE of IBM.
this car had an M logo where the 318ti should have been...
is that your car?

01-18-2012, 02:59 PM

Car's back! I'm pretty excited to start digging into it. I'll be at HPR with BMWCCA/HPDE in May. Anyone else?

teetime4one
04-06-2012, 03:49 PM
I have a co-worker who works out at the track. he has been trying to get me out there for a session in my car. only problem being...automatic (autotragic?). yet, i still want to get out to HPR in order to check it out for myself...hear it's awesome.
glad you got your car back!

fast_frizz
04-07-2012, 04:15 AM
You should come out - auto or not. It's a riot. I did one of the driving schools years ago at SCR, which was a bit better-suited to the mighty M42, but HPR has its fair share of fun corners as well.

fast_frizz
05-31-2012, 01:53 PM
The driving school was a blast - I ended up driving Sat and corner-working Sun. Great time. I went back for open lapping day on Monday / Memorial Day. That was a lot of fun as well. Great little car. Running about 2:30 on that track

teetime4one
06-01-2012, 04:01 AM
I keep getting asked if I race my car. I don't think I'll ever race it...but, I need to get out to HPR soon and give it a go.
I've got a few bushings to replace up front...then I'll head out that way. Sounds like a great place to let it all out. :)

fast_frizz
06-01-2012, 04:27 AM
Unfortunately there's not THAT much to let out with the ti (especially on the back-straight), but what there is, is fun. I got up to about 95 on the back-straight. I'll try to put together a youtube vid of the open lapping day this weekend.

If you end up going, post here, and I'll see if I can also make it. It's not bad having the way shown around the place. The half-day open day was plenty for me, and a bit cheaper. The BMWCCA HPDE is a bit more expensive, but the instruction and cameradery is worth every penny. After you've been to the school, it's good to go back to the track and hone the skills a bit.

teetime4one
06-01-2012, 05:00 AM
Good info. I'll talk to my co-worker and look to get out there on the cheap. I'll post as soon as it happens. :)

Definitely flush brake-fluid and make sure your suspension bits and brake rotors/pads are in good shape. I have 1-month old brake fluid, but have been out there 2x in that time, so I will probably need to at least flush the heated stuff out.

I need to do my brake fluid change soon. That will be a good reason to get it done sooner then later.

Had a fantastic day at the track - HPR is a fantastic venue, great track-staff, good stories, and the participants were courteous and friendly. Had about 28 drivers at the meeting this morning, 10 of which had never been at this track. Worked out really well, and everyone was very aware.

Budget M3
07-14-2012, 07:35 PM
I now have two ti's in CO--my original "Budget M3" (see sig) which you may have seen running around CSprings and Castle Rock; and a ti I bought as a second car to use there, but my wife decided to keep the X5 instead (imagine that! ;-) )

It's not a sport, but I can make someone a good deal on my ti in Colo Spgs. Everything works except sunroof--motor works, but it is misaligned and needs someone more talented than me to re-align it. $3500 with steelies and two sets of tires or $4500 with 17-inch Momos and brand new GS-DS3 235/40R17's.
