Hey guys. New here, and have a 'new' 97 ti sport. Just want to make sure I replace the trans fluid with the right type and kind. Read somwherer there should be a colored tag on trans, and you can use several types of fluid depending. Any definitive suggestions?

So nobody knows what kind of trans fluid my 97 takes? I looked around on forum and had a not a whole bunch of luck. I am not a skilled internet guy, and need some direction.

I used Redline synthetic ATF in mine, I know it's a stick but the owners manual said ATF, no clue why so I just went with it

Red Line D4 ATF. You need 2 quarts.

How about Dexron VI? GM's latest and greatest. I suppose I can change it if it feels wrong without too much damage. What could go wrong in 40 miles?
