My 318ti has a bunch of rock chips on the nose. Most are just chips, but a few have been there long enough to rust. I have the BMW touch-up kit in the appropriate color. My initial plan is to lightly sand them with fine grit wet/dry sandpaper, cover with some sort of rust converter, and then paint. When I do the painting and clear-coating I plan to use toothpicks or an extremely fine artist's brush and use several coats to fill in each chip.

Will the rust converter turn out to be a mistake? I plan to get rid of any loose rust and use the sealer sparingly, but I thought I'd check here before attempting it. I've never done any of these myself as my last car had an invisi-shield.

I found a sanding pen on ebay. Its a pen body with polishing fibers in the tip. I'm going to see if I can get all the rust off with that and then paint the chips. I'll post an update and let you know how it turns out.
