Does anybody know of a good product for cleaning the engine compatment? I'm looking to get some of the dirt out and to give the engine block and heads a nice shine.
Also, is it safe to turn a hose on the engine compartment to clean it out (of course, I'd put a tub down to prevent fluids from draining to the street)?

Actually you might try polishing the engine. I am 75% there and it looks very nice.

I am using wire brushes for my electric drill and then polishing pads on the dremel. Takes a bit of time but looks really nice. I will post picture when I am all done.

Hmm, sounds interesting, what parts of the engine compartment are you polishing? Just the engine block?
Also, what type of wire brush are you using? Thanks

use 3M pads, they are what i use for polishing the hub of hat-type rotors before machining
