Changing belts today and I didnt bother to look how the main drive belt goes on and now Im stuck w/ what seems like a ton of slack

Bentley diagram doesnt seem to make much sense to me, bc it it appears that the drive belt goes behind the AC belt....but there doesnt appear to be enough clearance with the belt to actually do it.

anyone have a pic of their belts already on the car?

even several pics and different angles will help at this point.....

I didnt expect the M44 to be so different from my M42 318IS

Thanks

The routing is essentially the same for both cars, the M44 has a different tensioner and I believe its location, as well as that of some of the pulleys, is slightly different. I think the M44 also has a slightly longer belt.

This may help:

Additionally, the drive belt does go behind the a/c belt.
