I would really like to try to sell my car soon. I am starting a new thread because I have updated my price and information.
I am selling my Black 1998 318ti. The car currently has 40,400 miles.
1.9L engine, 5 speed manual transmission, AM/FM casette/ prewired for CD changer, Power sun roof, power windows, power locks with factory alarm and remote entry, Driver and passanger side air bags, side impact airbags located in the doors, On board fuel milage computer, black heated leather seats, Traction control, K40 remote install radar detector ($800 radar detector).
All oil changes have been with mobil 1 full synthetic oil, spark plugs, fuel filter, and Idle speed control motor replaced at 36,000 miles. This car is in great condition and runs great. I average 38MPG on the highway with premium fuel.
I am the second owner and have the original window sticker, owners manuals, and related information.
I have researched the market on this car through Auto Trader, NADA guides, and have set my price at $10,800 a little lower than what I was previously asking.
Please don't tell me what the Kelly blue book prices are because they have been found to be very inaccurate. If you have any questions on the cars value I encourage you to look on autotrader.com and look at the 318ti market for 97-99 318ti's with under 60,000 miles.
If you are interested or have any other questions Please feel free to contact me at black98zq8@yahoo.com.
I have a few pictures located in the gallery on this site.

I haven't had difficulty buying any of the past three BMW's I have owned at @ 20% below Kelly Blue Book.
My '95 clubsport booked at 9000 (private party) when I bought it for 7000 in Chicago. The guy was asking 8500, and had been asking at that price for at least six months.
My 97 328i (sport, 5-speed, OBC, CD changer, heated seats and HK stereo) booked for 13,000 private party late last year when I bought it in Arlington VA for 10,500. He had listed it that January. I could have gotten a better deal if I had time to look around, but I needed another car THAT WEEK to replace my wife's car.
The 91 325ix I recently bought is a nice example, but similar to ones you can find on Autotrader listed for between 5500 and 7500 on any given day. I paid $2500 curb-side in St.Louis MO. The guy had just parked it that day, and was cleaning his junk out of the trunk when I pulled up.
That's just the way it goes. In order to sell a car, you actually have to want to SELL YOUR CAR. Now it's October, and fewer people will be shopping between now and mid-April. If you do decide to sell it, 7500 is probably a good place to start. I'd even drive out and look at it for 6000.

Yeah for $6,000 with 40,000 miles, I would consider buying another for that Price too. I can get more than that from my local dealer in a trade if that tells you anything.

If I had the cash, I would consider 10k for that ti. It has nice options, good condition, and VERY low miles. Check this out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2493093968&category=6007 That particular one went up to 7500 bucks, is 2 years older, and has many more miles. The color isn't as nice and it is a base model.
6 grand would be a steal for tiperformance's car, 8 grand would be a deal, and 10 grand would be appropriate IMO.
And I know you cant base everything off of an ebay listing, but you can see what alot of people are willing to pay. Don't give in too soon on the price ti...See what happens and then decide.

woh, $10200 for this car, is way overpriced, i just post mine for sale, IN CA, om;y $8000, which all the feature for this car, plus it's metalic blue color, california top, active package w/alarm, cruise control, new clutch, new brake and new inspection 2, my milage is 93k, however, it's maintained by mobil 1 synthetic oil and all bmw original parts everytime it service. No wonder take TIPERFORMANCE months before you can ever come close to a deal.

Maybe I'm wrong...but how can you think 10.2k is way overpriced if you're putting yours up for 8k? His has much less than half the miles and IMO that alone is well worth an extra 2k dollars.

Thank you Bimmerboi Well I have the active package, cruise, alarm, I use mobil 1 and BMW original parts also. Sounds like U have more than twice as many miles on the car, (more wear), the Cali top and urs is blue.
That is why car dealers sell a car with lower milage for more. I am not going to give my car away to someone for $8,000, because it is worth more than that. I might as well keep it and buy a truck or trade it in for $8,000.
So you 2 what is a good price for it?

good luck to your car selling, my deal is done, not to mention, i had 5 ppl contacted me a day for showing my car since monday, the first day i post my car, and it's sold in 4 days, i guess that's another reason why you are stuck with your car for so long, i see you start selling yours in july. Milage is 1 thing, another important thing is the year, i am sure a 98 model with 41k miles is no better than a 2001 model, if there is any, with same milage in it. Mine has active package, alarm, leather, cali roof as well, but i am the original owner, which i think ppl will be more trusting than the car is previous traded before you own it, it's garage kept and i don't smoke or track my car. Whoever getting your car for over $10k, i think you are really lucky or someone is really out of luck. If you think waiting for another 2 month or so will add more value to your car. Oh, not to mention to anyone, my milage is real, i have service lot from average 3-6 months, some extremely low milage but older year model, their odometer could be done some 'mickey mouse' and buyer won't even know. So......good luck everyone.

I can assure you that my milage on my car is correct. Also I am the second owner with all original paper work and records. Here as well as bimmerforums.com and maybe one other BMW forum are the only places that I have listed my car forsale. I see that there aren't many people in the Midwest on these boards. Most being in Cali, Jersey, NY or In the southern states. If I put it in my local Auto Ad's and on auto trader it would probably sell alot faster, so that is my next step. I have had several contacts aswell, but almost everyone was 700+ miles away from me.

I'm not trying to flame anyone and will try to stay neutral I'm just saying my mind (if it matters :8-) ) But I personally would be suspicious of a car that recieved a clutch before 93k miles...I beat the CRAP out of my car, have 115k miles and original clutch. It does run great though and I maintain it religiously...but anyways...
If you can sell a car in 4 days I salute you. I've never been able to do that before. Although I usually get what it's worth too. Good things take time.
And I'm wondering if this discussion belongs in "for sale". This part of the forum should be for selling. If you dont like the price, say it with a PM. Somebody that might be willing to pay 10k might be turned off by the car if they see it being criticized. IMO its an insult. My $0.02
why does everyone care what he's asking for his car. If you are interested then make him an offer, if not then leave him alone.

Chucky- you ever think that you sold the car in 4 days because you asked too little? Maybe you could have another g in your pocket. Take a lesson. To the right person a 43K milage car is worth it and if he's willing to wait let him.
come on dont just post a car for sale with no pics..
post some pics worth more detailed info :caffine:
or make a new post like you're supposed to.
Note: Some continuity has been lost since splitting the thread and deleting some extranneous messages. Sorry.

wow this thread has gone downhill...sorry tiperformance...what nobody wants is to have their honest post turn to crap like this one did...
BTW, like i stated earlier, I would buy his car if I had the cash. It's what I've been looking for and is a perfect car to throw a supercharger on. It's still fresh.

Well Tiperformance has to learn to say some positive things instead of bashing everyone that says something. Maybee his Diapers are on too tight or he's missing his Binkee who knows. Anyone got some baby formula for him??

His "for sale" thread is to help him sell his car. I haven't seen him bash anyone yet, he's only defended his position. IMO this should have been locked (sadly) awhile ago.

The west coast must be alot different. In the "OC" (lol) I see atleast 1-2 girls everyday that drive a 318ti , some guys own a few modded ones. I guess thats why you east coasters get more money for your 318tis. If I buy the local autotrader here I see atleast 6-12 318tis for sale in the magazine. Where lucky here, tan girls, tons of nice cars, cheapers prices, and dry mediterrean climate. :8-)
If I were still interested in Tiperformanes 318ti I would gladly pay $10k for the car if it certified with carfax. Maybe you should post the vin,( if you havent already)so potiental buyers can confirm thier possible purchase. I have unlimited carfax right now and would run it for a big please??? :mrhappy:
10k is a great price for a 98 ti with those miles.
don't worry about what any of those guys are saying.
i bought my ti in the midwest in august for 9k with 90k miles. the only difference between the two was that mine had the sports package.
i definately didn't see any deals better then yours when i was looking.
advertise in autotrader newspaper and .com and you should have no problem getting rid of that car.
good luck man.
