Nice car, but get that battery out of the engine compartment. You can remove 45 lbs from the front by putting a drycell in the hatch area. Check out Ben's car: http://tinyurl.com/3vrba

Here is the best place I've found to buy a Hawker Odyssey 680: http://tinyurl.com/4cjye

can you get a close-up of the flag on the bonnet? i really like that subtle detail.

also, xbrace is crucial. somebody makes rears too, and urethane bushings for the trailing arms (i'm told) stiffen up the rear much more than what you've already got on there.

Very nice ride. Did you have to do any modifications to the suspension? What year M3 engine did you use? Did you have to change the gauge cluster or did you use the ti's original gauge cluster?

I forgot to ask you. How about the transmission? I'm trying to learn all this since I would like to do the engine swap to mine. I'm just not sure what is involved. Thanks for the help.

I kept and used the 318ti tranny, on the 95 was the same gear ratios and same brand as the M3.
My engine is a 1998 M3 3.2L converted to OBD1
I did change the cluster.
Suspension consists of racing dynamics springs and M3 bilstein sports, Racing dy namics sway bars, and M3 F. Spinddles for the M brakes.
I LOVE my little **** basket!. do you have an M engine already?
I have a friend selling one for $4500 WITH a tranny. $4000 no tranny includes EVERITHING you need for the swap. 40K miles!.

If you do any track events you might as well tuck away some money for a new transmission, driveshaft and diff. If you use a LSD from a 4 cylinder it will be toast in a couple years. If you do consider replacing the diff, go with a 6 cylinder diff.

Yup, and the diff, I would go with that 3.15 or higher if you can find one. Out of an e30 6 cylinder, you'll need to change rear axles, there's write-ups on this site.

Uh, yeah. Just ask Ben how his went: At a stop light, easy start, no warning whatsoever. Best solution: Replace entire rear sub-frame with one from an M roadster or M coupe`. You get: LSD in beefy case with larger oil capacity, finned cover, better trailing arms, big brakes, big half-shafts with big CV joints, peace of mind... It's not the cheapest solution, but it actually IS the easiest solution. You have to loose the spare to fit the trailing arms, but the spare won't fit over the M brakes anyway...

Oh, yeah. Don't expect it to take years to fail either...

Mine started making a whirring sound. When I replaced my diff fluid it was grey with metal fillings. That is when I went to the bigger Quaife. For now my braking is more than adequate.

Discussion on the Quaife has been moved to the differential section.

Thanks for all the info. I don't have the M3 engine yet since I wanted to learn first before I buy one. The other option I have is to install a DASC. I think is less work and doesn't require to change as many parts as the conversion to the M3.

Thanks for the info.

sure! take the mouldings off, jack up the car and remove the bolt that attach the bumper to the fender liners and "pork chops" and move them back to take the air ducts off (youy need to buy M 3 air ducts.) remove the 4 bolts underneath the mouldings and slide the WHOLE bumper and RE bar off. then take the plastic security pins off the get the old skin off the RE bar (metal reinforcement bar) and install the new bumper.
