I would think you would want the cast thermostat housing....Is the water pump impeller steel?

Plastic housing is all you get with an M44, but I'd opt for the BEHR thermostat housing. Graf water pumps have a cast metal impeller- I've used them, they're good quality. Pelican probably has all that stuff for about the same price and as good or better quality.

You can get it in cast... when it's attached to an M42. :)

Well I compared to pelican took me a good hour but it was all the same stuff minus the thermostat and it was 15 bucks more on pelican so I will be getting this kit from eBay.

doesn't include the two famous connectors? the Y and block ? doesn't seem like a complete kit. check the DIY thread here http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18066

Pelican doesn't sell Vernet thermostats or CRP hoses. Given the fragility of the cooling systems of these cars, that is one place where I would not compromise on quality just to save a few bucks.

Also, if you're going to go through the trouble of replacing the plastic connectors in the block and head (definitely get the OEM BMW parts for these two items), you might as well replace all the hoses connected them as well. Just my $.02

There's a thread somewhere here on the forum that has a DIY on replacing all of the cooling system components (WP, hoses, plastic connectors, etc.)
