Hey- I changed my spark plugs the other day and noticed that 2 of the 4 had a bit of oil sitting in with them. DO i just need to replace the gasket around those two or should I change all the gaskets around that engine area to get a good seal? Not to mechanicaly inclined, but I am slowly tinkering and learning.

Get a valve cover gasket kit. It will include the four gaskets that go around the plugs.

Its a pretty easy job and a good place to start learning. Good luck!!

I had the same experience with three cylinders, but i have quite an amount of oil on the inside of the cylinders. The spark plugs are dripping in oil on both sides covering the spark plug gap. Is this still the same problem? 13241

You'll have no problems. This DIY was the first project I embarked on a year ago to kick off teaching myself to work on cars. Leaps and bounds since. The linked write up above doesn't miss a beat.

it is due to week rings of those plugs may be also week piston please consult with a good mechanic, in my suggestion this is the fault, remove the fault as soon as possible

You can get excessive oil on the M4* if the crank case is not venting correctly...
It will suck oil into the top end.

You can also end up with oil on the spark plugs if the valve cover well seal is leaking and you pull the plug it runs down the threads and coats the electrode.

Cheers

Thanks for all the help! I changed the valve cover gasket and the spark plug tube seals and seems to have fixed the oil on the inside of the spark plugs:cool:
