found bits of pink material in oil pan when changing oil

found small ( very small ) bits of what looks like pink plastic but u can roll it through your fingers and it breaks up even further. have no idea what it is thought maybe someone might have seen the same thing. have been using synthetic oil ever since i got it last year. car is 1997 318ti. thanks.

could it be the permatex oil pan gasket excess material that broke off from the inside?

I dont know, I guess it could be but it seemed hard and it crumbled between my fingers. not sure. I hope its that and not something more serious :smile:
