Why you shouldn't use tap water or "universal" coolants with phosphates, or whatever else the original owner may have put in this M44.

What I found when doing my cooling system refresh.

There are several coolants that have the correct blend for the all aluminum blocks.. Xerex has one that's specifically for BMW/Audi/Mercedes etc.. But the price of the BMW coolant really is not bad..
