1995 318ti Club Sport for sale

VIN: WBACG5328SAM53571

Okay, I’m reposting now that I’ve been able to accept the fact that I’m just not going to be able to drive my beloved Club Sport very much as the arrival of my daughter has relegated me to four-door cars for the foreseeable future. The car is in great shape, but needs a little TLC. I am the second owner and have plenty of maintenance records. However, I was able to have additional maintenance work performed by a good mechanic here in Charleston. She has 168,xxx on the clock and has been my daily driver. I purchased it in Maryland in 1999, where I lived until 2004. Since 2004 it has been in Charleston, SC.

I'd really like to sell to an enthusiast and avoid the ebay/craigslist scene.

Price: $4,250/best reasonable offer

The Good:

It’s a black Club Sport and in great shape!
Limited Slip Differential w/ fresh fluid
A/C is fully charged
New shocks, struts, rotors and brakes in April 2011 – less than 8,000 miles on them since installed
Supersprint Exhaust – cat-back and not too loud! (Note: valance has been cut slightly to allow for wider exhaust)
Turner Motorsport Street Short Shift
K&N Cone Intake
All seats are in great shape – no tears and just reasonable wear on the bolsters
Good rubber on the 225/50/16 stock wheels
Great steering alignment/balance
New window regulators
Minimal rust! Just a small bubble on a single wheel well
Comes with BMW rubber floor mats for the front seats
Factory pin striping is in very good condition

The Bad:

Sunroof vents, but the sliders need servicing.
She’s going to need a new clutch and/or universal joint soon. She is fully drivable, but power transfer from a stop can be a little rough at times (but not all the time).
Lower windshield needs weather stripping. I cannot detect any leaks, but the part needs to be replaced.
Passenger side mirror does not adjust electrically (I’m trying to track this down)
Hatchback struts should be replaced

The Ugly:

Headliner is sagging and needs to be replaced
Minor dings in paint and a bit of fading/wear
Minor dings and scrapes on wheels
Stock radio was replaced with aftermarket in 1999 - works, fine but isn't stock
Rear exhaust valance was cut to accommodate SS exhaust

Disclosure: This car has had two minor cosmetic repairs to the rear valance and front spoiler. Both repairs were cosmetic only – no structural damage, just new plastic parts.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like specific pictures.

Great car and glad to hear your keeping in "in house"
Could you get some photos of the dings, rust and cosmetic issues?
Thanks!

here are a couple of shots of the areas of wear and tear. The only rust bubble on the car is on the passenger rear fender. The other shots show a bit of shrinking of the weather strip on the back windshield (sealed with epoxy), the weather stripping on the bottom of the front wind shield, a few significant chips on the front hood.

Photos showing a small chip in the driver's side mirror and the cut on the rear valance for the exhaust. If anyone would like other pictures, please let me know.

Save me from eBay!

I can relate to that...

If we did not have both a red and black Club Sport in the family already I would be interested. Good luck with the sale!

Really wish this was on the west coast. The cost of shipping it would put me over budget.

I want this so bad. Any idea what shipping would be to Oregon? Are you even willing to entertain the idea of shipping it?

I just really want to get this into the hands of an enthusiast. She has been such a great car. I've turned down some lowball offers from Craigslist as I'm not in a rush to sell her... But I really should get her out of the driveway. $3750/firm takes her home!

My only concern is the clutch.
Financially I'm not prepared to replace it right away.

No worries on the clutch - she drives fine. Power transfer is only an issue in heavy stop and go traffic - and then not even all the time. Perhaps not even the clutch actually....universal joint? In any event, I just wanted to fully disclose any known maintenance issues. I've never driven the car hard, despite its pedigree :-)

Almost sounds like it could also be an issue with the slave cylinder- it's worth a look and a lot cheaper than replacing a clutch!

Congrats on the purchase, Steven!

Thanks!
Uneventful ride home. Last 15 minutes in pouring rain.
Felt the car a little squirrelly in the down pour so I was more cautious.
Handled just fine.

Evidently the car in front didn't recognize the changing road conditions and wrecked it.
When will people learn to drive?

Making a mental to do list and questions.

On the highway the water temp was running cold.
That normal for an M42?
It was usually just above the tick mark before center.

Oil smell?
I'm tired of after the drive so I'll go over the car tomorrow.
Others. Oil smell usually a leaky valve cover?
No big deal.

First on my list is an inspection II.
Oil, filter, plugs.
Cabin filter.

Next diff, tranny and brake fluid.

Then the cosmetic stuff.

Not complaining mind you.
Pretty nice for 95. :)

Looking forward to keeping it in the family.

I just bought this car many years later from this sale. I did a search of the VIN and this popped up!

The car is running great but was in pretty rough shape cosmetically. It needed a new front bumper, cover, and driver's side fender. There's also lots of rust under the carpet on the floorboard under the driver's feet.

I'm just up the hill in Asheville, maybe I'll see you around.
