The people on Bimmer Forums are trying to set up a 318 meet at the Irvine Spectrum around Christmas time. There will be people for LA and San Diego attending.

And anyone that wants to see an intercooled DASC, I will bring the IAAS project car down.

A date has not been selected as of yet.

Looks like we have meet crashers over on BimmerForums.

We should organize the details of the meet on here. Seems like most of the people attending are here anyways :)

I will organize a caravan from San Diego up to the event once the event details get ironed out.

There are a few people on Bimmerforums being turds.

Quote one of them "deuce meets are ok, Coupe meets are fine, e28 and e30 meets, sure, but M42? who gives a ****?"

That is the exact attitude that I dont want there. So we might move the final details to either an email list or just post them here since most of them wont come on this board. :p

yep 318tis are the "misfits" of BMW.

But that is what makes them cool to me(and handing2).

start the 318ti mafia and if someones messes . well. I help dipose of them. :mrhappy:

in so cal there are a million nice bmws and there arent too much real bmw meets. Hope something goes on and if it does please inform us with a post.
thanks

Yeah, actually.... where do you think we should meet for the caravan from San Diego to Irvine?

I usually meet at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall, but that will be a mistake on the day after Christmas!!

I am up in Oceanside, so I am not too big on driving south too far only to head back north again. So somewhere like UTC is not too good for me at least. Basically, anywhere in North County will work... just need to find a parking lot that is big and easy to access from the freeway. You know what might work?.... Plaza Camino Real (aka 'The Carlsbad Mall') off the 78 and 5. The parking lot there is HUGE and freeway access is easy. What do you think?

Dave,

You know I am down. I also dropped you an email regarding the drive. There is a Hwy around that area called Ortega Hwy 74. It goes from OC to Temecula and is this crazy canyon road. I think that would be a good trip for us.

OK, it looks like that date is solid. It is going to take place on Sunday, December 26, 2004 and wel will be meeting at the Irvine Spectrum. Possible lunch at the Yardhouse and then a drive on '74 with the V1's on "All Bogey Mode" The time is still being determined I am thinking 1 Pm or 2Pm anyone else have idea's?

the 74 is insane for road trips.
another one I recently explored was the road up to silverado pass (Off 271 toll and extending from champman ave past invine lake). Its curving up a narrow canyon with 55 mph parts and then threw several little towns(doesnt even seem like oc) with a wall on one side and the other rock cliffs. I have only hiked up driving a expedition, but dream of driving the mini cooper s threw there. I have also seen cobras, wrx, ferrari, porsche, cruising threw there, so it must be good.

Another good drive I know is threw carbon canyon road(from brea to chino). Its usually full of traffic but has some of the sickiest corners /

As for ortega it is a excellent spot but it is known to have its fair share of cops just waiting for drivers like us. Also I think it is the time of day planned that is really important, I believe morning is the best time not to run into police.

Does anybody else know any other good drives in OC with least chance of running into cops??
thanks

Hey Chad, thanks for taking the bull by the horns as it were and finalizing the details. I totally forgot about the 74! I can do that. It is heavily patrolled by the CHP though, so we should be VERY cautious.

Hmm.... it should be pretty cool sounding with all the M42/44's buzzing through the hills! I have never heard more than my own running in a 4cyl BMW concerta! :)

1pm at Irvine works for me. I will start working on the details for the San Diego caravan and will post them here once I get them finalized.

I haven't heard of the guy or seen the car. Sounds like a pretty good deal though with only 40K. What is the price? Hope to see you at the OC event.

OK, so here is the plan, let me know if you think any changes should be made.

Meet location: Irvine Spectrum (east side of lot near freeway.)
Date - Time: Sunday Dec. 26th - 1:00pm
What are we doing: We will meet in the parking lot for show and tell as it were, including pictures and friendly discussion about the 318 and its variants (E30/E36(ti)/Z3..etc).
Get a first hand look at the IAAS intercooler for the DASC.
Head into the Irvine Spectrum for food and drink (Yardhouse has been suggested for their large selection of beer).
After the meet: We will be going on a spirited cruise on the Ortega Highway (I-74). It is HIGHLY reccomended that if you choose to drink at the Yardhouse, that you either DO NOT go on the drive, or bring along a designated driver that you trust driving your car. We want to keep this meet safe and fun.

How to get there! Please be resourceful and use this site below, navigation, or some other mapping webiste to get directions.

Irvine Spectrum driving directions site (http://www.shopirvinespectrumcenter.com/xqs-asp-id_1-xqe-services.htm#)

Caravan from San Diego:
Where: Carlsbad Mall (Plaza Camino Real), north west corner of
parking lot, near Sears
Time: 11:30am-11:50am
Depart: 12:00pm SHARP!

Hey guys, what store(s) are close to the parking lot we're meeting at, if you guys know? You know, just in case so nobody ends up on the other side looking for us. Are we meeting at the lot near the Theater, or the Yardhouse. (sorry for such a stupid question, i just dont wanna get lost haha)
