Looking for advice on the prefered model of BMW motor to swap into a 318ti to be used in trackday applications. My goal is somewhere in the 225hp range with an expectation of a motor that would last 18 to 20 trackday weekends. Not very familar w/ the BMW motor line but have been told by some fellow trackday participants that this is possible. Looking to acquire a 318ti to use at the track (love the look, the size and RWD) but do not want to take a step back from my supercharged NC Miata from a power perspective. All thoughts welcome. Thanks.

Seems like an S52 (1996-1999 M3) would be the way to go.
Better yet would be a motor from a E36 M Roadster.
And even better to find a swapped ti.

Depending on the car you start with (OBDI or OBDII) and M50 2.5 or an M52 2.8 with a few basic mods (M3 cams, M50 intake manifold, software, etc...) will get you the power you want. The S50/S52's come with 240hp out of the box but the purchase price is generally more than double.
