Has anyone ever thought about dropping an E30 M3 engine into a Ti?
I think that will be a great up(?)grade.........192HP inside a 2.3L 4Cyl.?1
Lightweight and high revving?
Perhaps cheaper?
What is the reliability factor of those engines?
Anyone know?

Thanks,
WEEZE

maybe in a 95 OBD1 but it is going to be harder to do in 96+ if you have emissions testing. Also for the price of the S-14 engine you might as well swap in a more powerful BMW engine.

Why?
Parts are expensive.
It makes a lot more sense to use a 2.8, 3.0 or 3.2.
Plus you are restricted in some areas because of OBD-II like TIPerf says.

isn't that against the law? correct me if i am wrong, but i been told that you cannot swap in an engine that is older then the car. for example a 1989 m3 engine into a 1996 bmw ti

AFAIK it depends on your locale.
If you have emission inspection you must be OBD-II if you are +96.
You can install an OBD-II engine and do a OBD-I conversion on earlier cars.

I don't know what the federal law is but the above holds true for state.
States control emission testing.

It's been tried and done but it ends up being more expensive than putting in a euro M3 engine.
