Anyone ever heard anything about being allergic to orange juce? I know it sounds crazy but I've had orange juice with breakfast and lunch today and now I feel really sick. Sorry for the odd question.

Hahaha, well I have never heard of that one before! I mean I go to school for medecine and anatomy (specialized highschool) and have never heard of that before...
The only thing that comes into my head is the fact that you may be allergic to oranges, but most people who are allergic to citrus fruits dont get allergic to the drinks...
If you are in fact allergic to orange juice, well then I have nothing else to say but you will be missing out on a lot of tropical island beverages...

Yah. Thanks for the info. I'm stuck here at work feeling all so ****ty. Lets hope I'm not allergic to citris.
I suppose you could be allergic, if people can be allergic to peanuts, milk, strawberries, etc.

Usually allergies involve one or more of the following: watery itchy eyes, sneezing, sinus congestion, some sort of rash or swelling, headache, or respiratory symptoms.
If you're feeling sick like you have a cold or flu, then it's probably just that. If it's the other kind of sick then you might have food poisening from something. Maybe it was bad OJ?
Hope you feel better soon!

I doubt it is the orange juice, because (I am about to get scientific, sorry)....
People who are allergic to citrus fruits are allergic to a specific enzyme in that fruit, and it so happens that this enzyme is found in all citrus fruits. This enzyme works by by activating your mast cells which make histamines that adversely affect your body. Because orange juice is made from orange juic concentrate, and during the process of manufacturing the juice the enzyme is usually broken down and can no longer affect you. There are exceptions in which the manufacturing of the foods do not affect the enzyme, thus in peanuts... That is why peanut allergy people can't eat anything that contains peanuts..
Does that help you any?

Yep, don't think I'm allergic anymore. But I still do think I'm sick. Thanks for all the info. Never thought such an odd post would get a response.

If you're having flu/cold symptoms, then it's probably that. I have a problem though that when I eat too early in the morning, I feel sick (nauseous). I don't know why.. it's just that way.

I know exactly how you feel. Thats how I feel now but it seems to happen whenever I drink some OJ. Sketchy.
