just curious, whats the purpose of the air pump? of what system is it part?

If I remember correctly the ti pump is a generic Bosch unit that is used by a bunch of manufacturers. I believe you can buy the VW one for something like a third of the BMW price and just swap the connectors. Search on the 318ti list in the archives. The VW part # should be somewhere there.

Yes, I do have it and it is in perfect cond. I just didn't need it on the race engine.
