Hello,
I am recently new here and have found this page for help from people that know a decent amount more about the BMW 318i than I do.
I have a 1998 318i 5 speed that i recently just purchased. Third gear is not engaging and I am thinking about taking on this rebuild myself because I know it will save me money in the long run. I want to rebuild 3rd gear along with upgrade the clutch and add a new flywheel and short throw shifter (because 5th gear is a travel to the passangers knee....lol).
All I need help with is the knowledge on how the tranny is built and how to work on it basically (or in other words, want to know everything about it before I drop the tranny myself). I have been looking around and been trying to get information but nothing has been helping.
