96ti intake question

I was looking at the intake on this vehicle I have and realized that the person who put the intake person did a half job. The filter itself is filthy but that's besides the point. I see a tube running from the actual intake and a (Mass air meter>?) connected right before the filter... but the on top of the filter there is another sensor of some sort that he has there.

Question? Is there more than one sensor on this intake and what is that other thing in there for?

If a person was to get a Cosmic cold air intake and connect that. Where does the filter wind up? plus this extra sensor.... where is it supposed to be connected... there is no way it was meant to hang at the beginning of the filter like that.

well that little sensor just after the filter is temp sensor and it is very important that it is connected. if u get cosmo racing intake they have an opening for that sensor, well i dont know about ur air pump but my ti has a air pump which is a round looking black object to the right of intake manifold. and a smaller tube is running to this pump and that pump, send air to the exhaust to make it seem cleaner at startup. that tube also has to be given filtered air. other then that ur intake sounds fine, u should get a heat shield and a better filter head, which u can get at pepboys or somehitng at the ricer section.

Thanks Bar, that's what i figured I just wanted a little clarification. I'm thinking that I'll get a filter recharger and clean this one and order the best cold air intake I can find. The cosmo one seems good because up to this point... it seems like the only one I've seen that incorporates the temp sensor... anyone have any other ideas???

I know people say to use a fogged box.. BUT... this guy already took that out.. so i have to do with either a cone filter and heatshield.. or cold air intake.

BTW, for those who saw me asking tons of questions about brakejobs earlier.. it was cake... i lifted the whole car (which is difficult considering the clearance) and change all four pads and both sensor (pagid street pads) plus installed a nickel plated cross drilled rotor set in the front. 25 minutes... awesome.. thansk for the help guys.

This is my current project.. fixing the intake. ... THAT and putting on this one piece HID< ellipsoid headlight and parking light demon eyes assembly=)

u know i never liked real cold air intakes, cuz u can get water in em if u are not careful, and i see that ur car is also lowered so u really have to be careful to not to go through big deep puddles,
u know if u get water in intake ur whole manifold fills up so u have to shut down the engine and wait, or anything serious can happen, but if u get a cai make sure u got the little filter that blocks water. it usually connects between the pipes. but good luck wiht it, i hope that i helped u out.

Flooding? in los angeles? rain... puddles are considered dangerous here at 4 inches... plus i drive 2 miles to work from home and another 2 back... i dont worry much about water in my intake... though if you could link me to this water blocking device.. ill get it just for safety's sake

i really dont know what it is called but its starts wiht something like hydroblocker, go do a search at yahoo or somethin other than taht. i guess u will be fine as long as u dont drive like a maniac through the puddles.

i forget where but i read that water getting into your engine via a puddle is extremely rare...its something i wouldnt be too worried about
