so, I was about 2 miles away from home, and this red SRT4 pulls next to me.... I was doing about 40 MPH on 3rd gear, and he kept pressing and releasing the gas fully.... so I rolled down my window (5% limo tint) and gave him a smile.... I downshifted to second gear and lit up the 18" tires... when I heard a LOUD BANG! BOOM! TRAS! PLAK! PLAK PLAK PLAK PLAK, GRRRRRIIICHH......
Yes... I broke a FU#&*$G AXEL! the right one.. snapped it.
They lasted less tham 1 week.

AWW NO WAY!!!! sorry to hear that man...hopefully you'll get it fixed really soon.

Sorry to hear that man. I had the same thing happen to me in another car at the track. Got up in the staging lane, launched, shot forward about 2 feet, heard a loud pop followed by a bunch of clanging underneath the car. I turned it off, pushed it off the track and sure enough I had made 1/4 shafts out of my half shafts. I guess it's time for you to upgrade to something a little heavier duty :2gun:

welll the question is WHAT SHOULD I USE???
I have a set of E30 M3 axels, but the part that goes in the bearing by the wheel doesn't match and CANNOT BE CHANGED. (at least that's what my mechanic told me, because the E30 axels are pressed and sealed on t he wheel end....
now, I have an S52 engine with a 3.25 LSD... and I used the Ti stock axels... OOOPS!

MCoupe/Roadster half-shafts are probably the most durable. You might not be able to connect them directly to your diff. What diff are you running?

You may have to save up and swap over to an M rear subframe to get the heavier halfshafts. That or have a custom set made.

Is it the diff and gear, or just the gear? And how much?

ok I lost my pics, but first time was a snapped axel now the second one was the BIG diff bushing. broke the bussing in 1/2, broke the metal sleeve and broke the diff cover ring.- broke the bearings, broke 1 sub frame bushing and had to replace the trailing arm bushings....
WAAAY more than I was expecting for damages.. but it is fixed now... and my mechanic said.. "you won't brake this rear end with a hammer if you want to!" all poly, welded and reinforced. =) now I am looking to go with 255 tires.

The pics in your previous post are dead... if you are able to get them fixed, post an update so we can see them.
Thanks,

smoke 'em in the twisties, and let the straightline crap go.
unless you're a NASCAR fan, in which case, turn left.
