I have a 95 318ti 5spd car with a blown engine (ventilated block) that I just bought. I also have a wrecked 98 318ti auto that has a good low mileage engine. Whats the best way to approach the swap? Can a M44 be made to work in an ODB1 car? Since the 98 is an auto I imagine using the M44 along with its harness and ecu will be a problem? Thanks for any info.

You will just need the engine, OBD Harness, EWS Parts. The engine has OBD not the car.

Yes, the engine has OBD (ODB1 on the 95 and ODB2 on the 98 M44). What I am wondering is will the engine harness in the 95 plug into the M44? Will it require rewiring sensors? Or swapping sensors? Or will I have to use the M44 engine harness with the M44. :)

You will need the M44 Harness to have the easiest route.
