Stock Radio issues

Stock radio works fine for FM and Weather but no AM...also, display pixels are very dim.....anyone have any similar experience and know of fixes...thanks,

Pixels could be dim if it is very cold.

Our 318ti radio had a very dim display when we got it and we ended up tossing it and putting in a Blaupunkt Acapulco MP54 which sounds great and works great. The stock radio is OK but our didn't have a CD player (casette only), so this was the right choice for us. Cost was about $200 and installing was pretty easy.

I recall seeing a thread on replacing the lights in the radio that required disassembling the radio and soldering. It sounded like way too much trouble.
