Hello all,
I have a 96 318ti. a couple weeks ago I left the key on all weekend and drained the battery to zero. when I went to crank it Monday morning it was dead so I charged it and now when I turn the key to position one everything comes on like normal but when I turn to position 2 to crank absolutely nothing happens. I found the previous owners number and he said I have to find someone with the software to reprogram my key to the ECU... the ignition has definatly been swapped out bv there is a key attached to an old sensor underneath the column. My question to you all is if this is my only option or is there a way to by pass or a sequence I can use to reset computer to recognize my key. Thanks.
