love driving fast

ok now i got the super car bug, i want to modify my car all day, everyday, i love my car way too much, and now i like to drive fast.

it has only been like 1 month and now i started to drive too fast, i know i know its dangerous. i was driving wiht 75-80 miles on a 50 mile speed limit road and that road is route 73 if u know it. i guess i got the bug now i like the take the corners fast. brake hard. accelerate fast, drive fast. i guess i really need a radar detector now. i cant drive at the speed limit anymore its just way too annoying.

i cant haul ass thats the problem. i cant stop pressing on that gas pedal makes me feel so relieved, i dont know why but i guess i waited for this for the rest of my life maybe because i dont got nothing more important to drive my car. i dont care about the house, i dotn care my friends and their bull****, my parents and their bullcrap about me being lazy, and unresponsible. all it matters is that when im driving i feel like im in a different place where im happy u know. i dont have to worry about no one elses bull**** when im relaxed and pressing hard on that gas pedal. maybe some of u get this. maybe some dont i guess im just too obbsessed with this ****. but thanks anyway.

you mention your parents saying something about 'unresponsible' and what you're describing defines the word. i agree, it is a lot of fun to drive fast and push your driving skills as well as the envelope of your car's capabilities, BUT you must make sure to do these things in a manner that does not place other people in danger.

take a little time and consider that what you've got in your hands is equal to a loaded gun. in the blink of an eye, you could be dead. someone else driving on the road you're on could be dead. if i'm not mistaken, you've not been driving too long, right? see if your local area has a chapter of the scca and if so, look in to taking some performance driving classes and possibly picking up a racing license if you want to continue driving fast. this will teach you how to drive properly in the manner you're doing. also, if you're going to drive fast, find a road that is rarely used and one step better, drive the road at night so that you've got the other people's headlights to warn you that they're coming.

i'm not trying to tell you what to do, but just take a few seconds to think about the points i've made. there's a time and place for everything.

It's not the driving fast in a straight line that gets people into trouble, other than speeding tickets. Take a turn too fast on a rural road and you can understeer right into a tree. These cars tend to be a bit tail happy. That is the rear will swing around.

You want to have fun pushing your car, go autocross or register for some BMW CCA driving schools with your local chapter.

i used to be a crazy fast driver and basically i realized i was being really irresponsnible and dangerous...and it was a risk i didnt want to take...

i do understand how driving the speed limit is annoying though...especially 35 mph roads...blah i hate those

Back in the day, I worked for American Honda in North American R&D. There were guys down there who had worked and ridden for HRC's GP teams. They all said the same thing: "You guys all think you're fast, but you don't know fast until you've ridden on a track with guys who can really ride and know how to win. That's the real thrill."

Their point was that the street is truly not a place to go fast, the track is. 20 years later, I will still drive too fast from time to time or when the opportunity presents itself. The point is that I have driven and raced enough to know the difference.

A couple years back, a kid in an Acura Integra flipped his back at 85 flew inverted over a median and landed his car roof to roof on a car in the oncoming lane. The kid driving the Acura was the only one of 6 to survive.

I went out to the crash site a few days later. I could see exactly what happened. The kid hit the apex of an off-camber turn and had never experienced the feeling of a car getting light and centrifugal force acting the way it did. The bottom line was that he just didn't know what it was to drive fast and in control and now will never have the chance to learn.

I got lucky more than once when I was a kid. You might as well, but try and learn to drive before you find out just how little you know. BMWs were made to be stable at speed, but they are only as good as their driver.

Enjoy, but learn to drive first.

learn dynamics of driving- - pay attention- - and when you speed, be smart about it. always be observant about your surroundings, and memorize what typical cop car headlights look like. this will save you from a ticket many many times.

yeah now i just take it easy and dotn drive too fast, and i might get a detector anyway just to be safe.

Spend a few bucks and go to some high performance driving schools, race schools, Solo 1, Solo 2, lapping days etc. Get your speed fixes there, learn to be humble because nobody's as good a driver as they think they are. Just don't be stupid on the street.
