i'm trying to get the best possible performance/sound to price ratio... obviously, this is probably going to mean a non-bolt on, or cat back package.
im wondering if anybody here has taken this path already, or if anybody has ideas about it...
i'm wondering:
-what do you think is the best sounding/performing muffler
-what's the best pipe size to get?
-does anybody know where to get a good high flow cat
-how much might i be looking at for all this, would it be too much trouble compared to just getting a stromung?
thanks for the help

Get Supersprint, it's the best way to go in my opinion. They also have a resonator which eliminates the cat if u want to do that. You would be looking around $500 for the muffler and $300 for the resonator.

supersprint is wayyyyy too pricey IMO
bosal gives same performance and great soud for under 1/2 the price.....
PROBLEM WITH BOSAL: the picture online shows a chrome tip, my exhaust did not come with this. The tip that came with mine looks stock, and terrible. Make sure to clarify that you want a nice tip!

If you are on an extemely tight budget, look for a good used setup. I got my Dinan exhaust for $100 used. The list price on it was almost $900. With a fully stainless steel system, you don't have to worry about rust. A good system should sound the same after 50,000 miles as it does right away, at least that is my experience.
My exhaust sounds incredible...so I've been told.

I have a Supersprint... If you want a good throaty sound (almost like a Porsche starting up).. this is the way to go- only IF you don't want to wake the neighbors. However, I want to wake the neighbors... so if I could do it all over again, I probably would go with the Stromung. Same price range as the Supersprint, but it is a bit louder (video clip on www.understeer.com ). It is also more ricey in my opinion. But then, I don't have a problem with ricey like some people on other BMW forums especially. My philosophy is "Your money, your choice... you get what you pay for." So,.... :blowme:
