Hey... I need help. Can someone do a detailed write up on removing existing stock E36 foglights (they were installed at factory so I am not familiar in how to install them and uninstall them). I have some crystal depos that I'd like to install in place of the stock fogs (one stock being cracked).... And for the life of me I can't figure out how to install a bulb in the new suckers (They are like oem but have a different look)... don't want to mess with it too much not knowing what I'm doing cause I don't want to break em... They seem durable, but they are still plastic though. Please somebody help... BTW... do I twist the circular part on the back of the fogs, unscrewing it like a cap, to get the the bulb socket? Or do I take the bracket off? Me = Desperate.

holdon, you're mixing up your questions here.

if you have the lense out already, twist (until it doesn't twist anymore) then pull the rear black cap--it works just like the gas cap. it'll give you access to the bulb, which is just clipped in there.

once you have the lense out of there you can just unscrew the bracket.

maybe i'm confused because i don't know what a crystal depo is.

Crystal Depos are the new "Euro projector" looking fogs.... You can find them on ebay... They are made by Depo. Anyways.... Thanks for the help... Now I just gotta figure out how to remove my old stock fog lights.

if you look through the grill you will see a little clip you need to press in which will pop the foglight out, so be ready to catch it... here's a little picture i made(ps i'd love to see a picture of the finished product)

Thanks for the drawing.. however I have the M bumper and there are the brake ducts between the grille and the fog lights.... Looking at my new fogs, I see what you're saying. However I can't seem to figure out how to get to that "lever" on and M bumper. I do see two holes in the brake ducts... but doesn't give me much play room with the screw driver. I think I might just have Jeff take a look at it if he's not busy this week.

the bracket for both bumpers is the same, or at least the release mechanism for the lense.

in the graphic, the highlighted release lever rotates around a vertical axis (like a door). put a flathead on the "X" and push. it doesn't take a lot of pressure, but it won't exactly fall out either. imagine you're getting fingerprinted by the cops; that's how much pressure you should apply.

sometimes the lense doesn't exactly fall away, sometimes it'll just move a little bit. at this point, you can just pull it out (side towards center of car first) and swing away towards the outside.

i'm afraid i can't help you on the crystal depo bulb install, but i imagine it follows the OEM method of twist and pull.

let us know what works out so we don't keep covering the same old stuff.

yours also has that special ingredient that mine lacks -- love.

your picture makes complete sense to me, but i've replaced a few broken fogs from hitting gators on the road.

Thanks... Actually I am planning on changing my headlights and clear corners to a one piece design. There are a lot of fugly one piece headlights out there but I think this particular one that I ordered looks great. We'll see... I used to have the projector style corners (which I liked better than the clear corners that are on now) but one of them broke during high speed driving...they were built cheap, but they came with the headlights... The one that fell off is probably still somewhere on I-20... here in South Carolina we still have debris on the road from the 70's.
