Ok folks, sorry I found it tucked away in the manual........100nm

I believe 100 Nm was the old recommendation and that 120 Nm is the current one. I tighten to the average, 110 Nm, and rationalize that as providing some tolerance for error in my torque wrench.

Thanks for that headsup John, seems my original guestimation of 90ft/lb was absolutely spot on then? A good job I didnt go out and re-torque them as per the manual! :?
So I knew what the best torque is by judgement before BMW did?
I must have been messing about with cars for way too long I reckon :evil_lau:

One thing.......always wondered......why 'LUG'????????????

Aren't they just wheel bolts or wheel nuts?
Two countries divided by a common language eh? <BG>

i think it had to do with the tightening method. with a lug wrench, you had to basically jerk (lug) it until the bolt or nut was tight enough. i also think i'm making up that etymology.

I thought it had more to do with the guy who tightens them in the tyre dealers!
You know.........tighten it till it shears then back off half a turn.......
No offence too you 'lugnuts' out there of course
