Engine Cover

I have a 97' ti with a engine/valve cover that is in horrible shape. I like to keep my engine bay emaculate and I'm sick of looking at that cover with what looks like a clear coat chipping off. Does anyone know somewhere that might sell an engine cover for this car, possibly powder coated?? Or is this something i am going to have to get done myself??

It's something you'll have to get done yourself. Powdercoating it shouldn't cost more than $50 though, and a new valve cover can't be that expensive.

I am going to be sending a few valve covers to the Powder Coater where I live. If you are interested, and can go with out your car for a few days, hit me up and you can get in on it and share the cost with me.

Lots of time and little money?

Buy a used valve cover from a junk yard. You should be able to find someone with a scrap motor that will sell it cheap.

Polish the aluminum by hand. Presure wash it and make sure it isn't warped. Then start with corse sand paper and work your way to 600 wet and 1000 wet. Use a drill or a porter-cable with compound to finish it off.

I've done this several times. The results are great and the cost is very low.

I was thinking of doing this to my engine. It gives the m44 a clean look IMHO :) I pulled these off of a fellow Ti'er on Bimmerforums a while back

That is exactly what I do to my valve covers. It is powder coated with a shiny black finish and then the rails are polished.

cant wait till i take pictures of my engine bay
i used a drill with a wirebrush for 2 hours
layed 4 layers of paint let it dry over night came out nice i will post some pics if i can
