Here are a few no-no ebay auctions. The biggest thing wrong with these auctions, are that the auctioners are shady.
Who sells their car on ebay with just one sentence to describe it?

He's also got a Cali top... umm... kinda fishy he doesn't have a picture with it open. wth?

Car #2:"To the best of my knowledge this car will need.: a hood , a fender , a bumper cover , fog lights , a headlight , front passenger suspension , a wheel and that’s it .The frame will need to be pulled a bit but it is nothing major ."
Hmmm... last I checked, pulling a frame can cost an arm and a leg for labor. And you might be able to buy the stated parts for cheap but to align them just right and tweaking the fitment (due to the damaged frame)... yeah... the car should be going for "Buy It Now:$1,200" or even better, parting the car out, because you'll be paying atleast 3 more thousand dollars just to have it fixed. Why, when you can buy an unwrecked '96 active for the same amount?

On an amusing sales note, I love seening the classifieds that say their 525i has a V6.
Shows how much these people actually know their car.

Car #1: Lies: Leather seats (leather only came on sport seats)... to my knowledge there was never an all leather option on our cars.
Uhh, my '98 is an Active package car and has leather seats and steering wheel, and shift knob . It was a normal option for all except the Sports.

hmm... in my '98 ti brochure it doesn't list the all leather seat option. Only cloth/leather option on sport seats.

Well, my car's window sticker, showing your home state of SC as the "port of entry", has it as a $1,450 option "Black Leather". The Vehicle History report from BMW's DCS lists "P9SW (black leather)" for the car, and both the "1998" and "1998-99" BMW "Suggested Retail Prices" lists show "leather upholstery" as a $1,450 option, for the ti as well as all the other 3 Series cars of that year. I suppose the brochure could be wrong:
From the book BMW Fast Facts 1998:
The following additional
stand-alone options are available
for the 318ti:
• Metallic paint (base model or
Sport Package)
• Cruise control (base model or
Sport Package)
• Leather upholstery (base
model or Active Package)
• Heated front seats,
windshield-washer jets and
driver’s door lock
• Onboard Computer (base
model or Sport Package)
• Power 2-way sunroof
• Upgraded Scheduled
Maintenance Program or
Full Maintenance Programs.

Full leather seats were an option (at least in Canada). Also a lot of tis in Europe have leather seats.

Interesting. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I always went by the '98 brochure as the TI "Bible" of what was available and what wasn't (except for the later 98 and 99 3 spoke steering wheel). It's funny how the swatches tell a different story.
EDIT: Also sorry if I mislead anyone. And I retract my statement of the dude as a liar :_punch:
I will edit the first post to reflect that. :shakefis:

As far as the first car not showing an open roof, I don't open my roof below 45 degrees for anything. Poor advertising, but on ebay every photo costs $$. He may have more photos for mailing.

Car number 1 -- Well the guy has no idea how to sell a car. Other than that, I don't see a problem. I wouldn't buy a car sight unseen anyway.
But car number two. YIKES. It is up to $3250! That car is a mess. It needs many more more parts than the seller is admitting to. And that's just what I can see from the photos. Looks like the passenger door is out of alignment. I wonder if the right rear window will open and close.
I hope the high bidder owns a body shop.
I had to laugh at the 'Can the car be driven' question.

My turn:
For sale '96 318ti. Car won't start, maybe because it ran out of coolant. Should be easy to fix. It has a CD player and a sunroof. Sorry no photos, my digital camera is out of film. $7000 BIN :)
