Brake Caliper Covers - New Item on Bavauto

Hi everyone:
I get the bavauto catalog regularly and they had a new item that caught my attention. It is a caliper cover that is basically a bolt on item.

I don't race my car and I can't justify spending 1,600 to 3,500 on a big brake kit.

I sent an email to them with some questions on it but I haven't heard back from them as of yet.
What do you think? I think they look pretty cool. They come 2 styles; carbon fiber and red.

Yeah i can see what you mean. I got my answers just now from bavauto. Here is the email quoted.

Yes, these will fit your car.
Some brake dust could accumulate under them. We recommend removing them and cleaning them once a year.

It may effect heat dissipation. If you are using the car in track situations, this product probably would not be suitable.

These do not require any drilling. "

I believe what that comment was trying to get across, was that you could do something much more functional for that kind of money. But hey, it's your car man, I've said this to other people before; Do what you like with it. It only has to look good to you. But honestly... look at those covers, they don't have a "big break" look, they look like toys. It makes the calipers not look like calipers anymore. There's no definition, it's just a colored, rounded coverup. If that's what you want, then go for it!

im not too big on the look of them...they dont look like calipers...as everyone else said...but then again, it is america and you can buy them if you so desire

my suggestion (and what i'm doing myself), spend the money on some used 325/8 calipers, rebuild 'em and powdercoat 'em. they'll look good over a long period of time and actually IMPROVE performance (you'll need new vented rotors and pads too, of course). plan to do it the next time you have to do front brakes to maximize the value you get from your current brakes and call it a day :_paper:

OK. I get it. I'm going to plan to do what cali-ti mentions in the long run. I now get what you were saying the the "half the exhaust" comment. You're all right with the comments they do look a little "jank" now that I look at it closer.
I mainly thought it was interesting to look at.

I'm just don't want to spend thousands in brake upgrades I really don't need.
