fuel pressure regulator

alright i have had my fuel pressure regulator that i bought from cosmo racing for like 3 weeks now but there directions suck so bad so i was wondering if there was anyway somebody could give me a pic of where the stock fuel pressure regulator is and any other useful infromation about the install. thanks

The map in the engine bay says that the FPR should be under the intake manifold or behind, i think.

its on the very front of the fuel rail on mine

Yeah it's a little round can thing about an inch wide on the front of the fuel rail. It has a rubber vacuum line going to the end of it. It should have a clamp and pinch bolt holding it to the fuel rail. It looks like a pretty easy swap. Just make sure to depressurize the fuel system first.

i havent installed it yett, had some trouble figuring this stuff out to be all honest should have it on by this weekend ill tell you then.

but also curious as to what a fuel pressure regulator does...other than regulate fuel pressure...does that give you gains and such? anyone else got one yet?

just surfing the net and saw one and was thinking about what it does and how it works

The electric fuel pump supplies fuel at a high pressure to the fuel rail and injectors, which is then regulated by a fuel pressure control valve. Typically, the regulator is not adjustable and is pre-set to a 3 bar maximum pressure. At idle the fuel pressure valve reduces it by 0.5 bar approximately to 2.5 bar. When accelerating quickly from standstill the fuel pressure increases at a proportional rate retaining a lean fuel mixture strength as required by the E.E.C. for new vehicles. However, the resultant effects of the standard valve produce:
lethargic throttle response
occasional drivability problems at slow traffic speeds
intermediate performance 'flat spots' when accelerating

Firstly, this valve has an adjustable fuel pressure, effected by the movement of an adjustment screw on the crown of the unit.
New Power Boost Valves are pre-set with a maximum fuel pressure of 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5 bar, depending on the vehicle in question, and similarly (to the original valve) the fuel pressure is reduced by 0.5 bar approximately at idle. There the similarities end.
On acceleration from standstill the Power Boost Valve fuel pressure will increase at 1.7 times the standard rate. This will produce a healthy, strong fuel mixture strength which will instantly improve the drivability of your vehicle, providing:-
instant throttle response
removal of performance flat spots
faster acceleration
extra engine performance
The regulator enhances engine performance on acceleration by enriching the mixture strength. On constant throttle and cruise conditions the valve returns to a normal regulator function.

I know this is a few months old, but #1 does any one know if this is worth it? #2 If you were going to purchase one would you go with cosmos for like $120 OR bmp designs for $250?

There is a bmp regulator on bimmerforums for $90.

I dont see how an adjustable fuel pressure regulator would show any gains unless the motor was pretty modified so that it would require more fuel. From what I know, a rich afr takes away power and too lean of an afr can cause big damage.

That sounds like a good price, pm box is empty now.Even though it has no gain I may buy it to go with the DASC for that price. thanks for the find!
