I thought our car had the same rear suspension as the e30 and z3, but was different from the other e36'ers. The front would work, but not the rear, as far as I understand.

He's correct...........even so if you just fitted that axle and running gear on a standard E36 the back end would be overbraked and out of balance with the front I would have thought......

I meant E36 (saloon/coupe) as opposed to our E36/5..........

I forget who but one of the companies that did the V8 318ti grafted the whole rear E36 M3 suspension into their ti. So I guess I agree that it wouldn't work but as to the original question of "is it useful", i'd have to say if you had enough time, a welder, and a lot of room it could be useful!

Just dreaming...
