View Full Version : How long should my brake pads last...

I just put cross-drilled rotors up front and Axxis PBR pads on all fours (and changed pad wear sensors) about 20,000 miles ago. My brake pad wear idiot light is just starting to flicker already.
I don't do any tracking or other events; strictly daily driver. I'm not an agressive driver (relative), but I do *love* to brake hard. Whee!
Is 20,000 a normal pad change interval under those conditions? I was somewhat surprised. Would it be likely that all four would need changed, or would the pads up front wear faster against the cross-drilled rotors?
Thanks!

Well I Have 75k On My Car With The Original Brakes. It All Depends On How You Drive Your Car,and If You Drive City/hgwy.

I agree that the cross-drills will take their toll. I realize it's all up to my driving style, but I guess my point is: isn't 20k extremely short even with x-drilled no matter what? Or is that not all that unusual?
Should I assume that when I check into it, I should see plenty of life left on the rears, since they still have stock rotors?
Just wondering aloud here. I'll be under there looking into it this weekend. Also installing some Hagus M3 mirrors if the paint shop's done with 'em:

I just put new pads on the back of our Ti this weekend and while
at teh shop picking them up I loored at teh PBR/Axxis and ended up
buying the Pagids. The material on the pbr's is significantly (I could
tell with my fingernail ) softer than the Pagid pads. Don't know if that
might make a difference or not. SOme pads harden as they bed in...
