I am somewhere between interested and definitely want one... Depends on when the group buy goes down. I should have the money. Definitely keep me posted.
Link to the GB page for those interested.

If I can dig up the funds then i am in, otherwise I'll just get it from BMP.

cheaper at www.leatherz.com

Leather z is not cheaper. I gave them a call first, the cat back is $400 plus shipping and shipping on the cat back is not $15, it is more like $50 or more. He said the shipping ranges from $35 - $80, depends like the resonator is probably $40 just an estimate.
As for when it goes down, it is on at bimmerforums and I already told him a few people are interested here so he will wait for us. So I'm thinking when everyone is ready and has the money we will get it done and shipped to us and if you want an exhaust I think now is the best time instead of later when you get it from BMP for like $100 more plus shipping.
So when everyone is ready we will get it started. Let me know and if you have any questions just ask.

Usually a bunch of people email/phone/etc the company, then they arrange shipping and payment, and its a nice big boost to the company and deal for the buyers!

That's cool, no problem on the money, we can wait. So far we have about 4 people including myself, so let's start a list and what you want to get or plan on getting. Just copy and paste.

Yeah, but BMP is just around the corner from me and I've spent alot time talking to them and asking questions and never bought anything from them so I don't mind spending a little extra since they have been very helpful thus far.

Same as on any other M4X. The engine is the same so it will sound the same.

Viper,
Do you know if the catback the same one as this one (click me) (http://www.evosport.com/product/proddetail.aspx?partnum=SST.EXH.B36.M04)
The one pictured is the rectangular tipped one. If you look on that website, choose BMW and E36. It should be the first one under resonators.
If it's not the rectangular one, can you tell me what tip it has?
If it's the same one as the one in the group buy, I'm interested. Thanks alot.

Well I have some good and bad news.
The bad news is that the guy that I have been talking to has just found out a problem with shipping. The cat-back seems to be 4 inches longer than normal shipping so there is an extended fee. He quoted me at $480 shipped, still it's about $100 savings from retail price.
For everyone who wants the resonator the price is still at $280, but the only problem is that there is only one resonator in the country at the moment and it will take about 6-8 weeks to get more. He said that supersprint is backed up on oreders right now., but for those of you who said were waiting to get their money together then this seems good for the resonator.
So this is the update that I have at the moment. If your still interested with the new price or wait then that's great if not I'm sorry for the bad news. Just let me know if your still in or not.

I just ordered the Racing Resonator. I should be getting it on Tuesday, so I will post pics of it and try to get it installed asap and let you guys know about it.
and................... I have to sadly say that this group buy is officially over on here and bimmerforums. Apparently SuperSprint is backed up on orders and can't take more, but if you still wanted one then you can still get it for the price that I listed.

A few questions about this group buy.
Which Exhaust system are you looking to?
1. 1 round tip - Aluminized
2. 2 round tip - stainless steel
3. 2 dmt tip - stainless steel
at bimmerworld the cost is
1. 1 round tip - Aluminized - 479.00
2. 2 round tip - stainless steel - 734.00
3. 2 dmt tip - stainless steel - 799.00
I would assume the exaust for the group buy is the 1 round tip aluminized exhaust system. The only thing that keeps me from getting the exhaust is that its not stainless steel. If I had more money I would shell out the 700.00-800.00 for the stainless steel system.

What are the major differences between the aluminized and stainless steel systems? Is it mostly cosmetic? Or does it affect performance/durability?

The stainless exhaust should last for ever but the aluminized will end up corroding.

The stainless exhaust should last for ever but the aluminized will end up corroding.
"All Supersprint mufflers are of the flow through resonated design. This means each unit has no chambers or baffles to reduce velocity. Simply, a straight through in & out design. The internal components are 100% stainless steel with a high heat resistant rock wool sound suppressing material, not found in any other systems. This is the reason we can offer you sound legal performance exhaust systems. Tubing is always mandrel bent for maximum flow. Flanges and hangers are O.E. or better quality for a perfect fit every time. Housings are all manufactured from 1.5mm material that is M.I.G. welded at all seams. The stainless systems are 100% 304 stainless, the mild steel systems are aluminized on the inside and out, then black heat coated for corrosion prevention. Supersprint offers the largest tip style choices in the world."
Quoted from BMP Designs, concerning their retail of SuperSprint exhaust systems. Got this from the rectangle tip link (but I think the descriptions are all the same). If the internals are all stainless, and the outside is heat resistant "rock wool" whatever, then which is the "aluminized" part? The tip?
cali-ti
04-01-2005, 11:55 PM
the internal padding of the muffler is rock wool not the outside. the "housing" is the outer shell that you're talking about and where the difference exists between the 100% stainless and the aluminized. keep in mind the only one they sell that will fit a stock rear bumper cover is the single rectangular one ... which is aluminized. that's the one i ordered (and is still mummified in my garage waiting for when i do the LSD swap).
it'd be nice to know from anyone who has the aluminized how it has lasted through the years. perhaps start a new thread and ask for feedback since they will likely not be reading this thread?

I have had my supersprint cat-back with the rectangular tip for about 5 years already maybe more. It has been great and still in perfect condition. The sound is great also, especially for an automatic.

97Hellrot318ti
04-02-2005, 07:25 PM
on all the pics it is black on the outside... so is it just the tip that is aluminized, or is that black coating considered aluminized?
