Not bad for you first time out. Get that 60' down, and with a little practice you should break 16s. Were you having any traction/bogging problems?

everything but my reaction time was great, I had been practicing my launches all that week  and I had brand new tires on the rear, uummhh I had a healthy amount of wheel spin but it wasnt too much and my shifts were all really good but I am happy with it.

I went to the strip for the first time ever today. It is very intimidating. I believe I can break into 15's because my launches were terrible. I spun the tires through 1st. I can get way more traction on the street.

Gas 89 Octane (D'oh.....wrong pump. Luckily I only got a few gallons)
Temp 95+ degrees
R/T .885
60' 2.478
330' 6.825
1/8 10.468
MPH 67.26
1000' 13.626
1/4 16.281
MPH 85.04

I'll post my 1/4 time when I get home. The best I got was 14.65 @ 95.4 mph. I couldnt get any traction at all. I was spinning on 1st and 2nd even without dumping the clutch. I was letting go at 2500rpm. I think i need some radial drags. I got some vids but im trying to figure out how to extract it from my digital cam. Hope to learn it by this weekend. Hopefully get it on the net for you guys to see what the m3 swap can do.

Thank you. Drag racing is really big around here so there were many many many 10, 11, and 12 sec. cars. There were probally 100 or more cars running that night. BTW I just bought a zex kit :pistols:

Well, this thread seems to be doing better than my 1/4 mile thread so here's my best run

60' - Don't know since someone hit the sensor earlier in the day
1/8 - 10.120
1/8 mph - 69.1
1/4 - 15.762
1/4 mph - 86.72

Heres my vids. My first try on capturing videos to my computer. It wasnt as hard as it seems. You can either right click and save as or just click on the link.

1st run is pretty funny. This was my very first track run. I believe i ran a mid 15 spinning on first.

2nd vid I ran against SRT4. Check it out, what you guys think? my best run 14.65. I need better tires. Cant get any traction on the launch even at 2k - 2500 launch. Still spinning til end of 2nd.

nice run, a little trick for getting traction try lowering your rear tire pressure a bit and see what happens.

I was running @ 26psi. I started @ 32psi. I'll the the launch down and hopefully break into 13s. Once I get my financial situation stabilized then Im getting a pair of Street legal radial drags. Either yokohama or Bfgoodrich.

im gonna head to the drag strip for the first time in a week or so...

im gonna race my friend and his 96 318i!

i have the m42 engine, he has the m44 engine (4 more ft lbs of tourque! yay!), same horsepower....pretty much everything is stock....except i have a 'debaffled airbox' which probably doesnt really do much. i figure his car is heavier, so i may be able to beat him, but id probably take my subs out for the night and the spare tire or something to lighten my load.

plus i have 2 318ti.org stickers, so thats 5 hp each... ;}

both cars are automatic too...so i have no real idea as to who would win...what do you guys think about this matchup?

I have my money on the 318ti if you take out all the junk. Also if possible have a 1/4 tank of gas or less. A big part is launching and reaction time. My friend has an auto and when he takes his car to the strip he hits the brakes and gas on the line so he can get the revs up. Try that maybe. Good luck

Thats was my problem also. I need to learn how to launch. I keep spinning. Im not getting any traction at all. I dont know if its the cheap tires im using. Falken 225/24/17 I guess doesnt do it for me. If I wasnt so strapped for cash at this time I would get some TOYO's.

The weirdest thing that I am having trouble getting used to is slipping the clutch for the launch and modulating wheel spin and bogging. Just remember everytime you hear those tires bark on a shift you are losing at least a tenth of a second. Good luck on getting into the 13s.

225 holy crap no wonder you cant get traction, how wide are your rims?, if they are 8' wide I would highly recommend a wider tire, 245 or a 235 atleast.
you are way under tired. the M3's come stock with 235 but your car is way lighter than a M3.

Toyo's are the ****. my mom used to live in Eugene OR, and I would go into les schwab and drool at the Proxes 1, you cant get them anywhere here in wisconsin :ashamed:
