Hi everyone, I have been having some AC problems with my '97 318ti lately. Last year my AC would not work at all so I took it to the dealer and they checked the lines and charged everything. It turned out that the only problem was a blown compressor fuse. After it was replaced the AC worked great and was very cold. The fuse blew a couple times more within a month or so but after that everything has been great.

Now I am getting cold air for about 10 mins and then it blows hot. I have to turn it off because it is so hot. If I stop in a store and come back out it sometimes works again but will soon start blowning hot again. I checked the fuse and it is fine. Anyone else have this problem? I hate to take it in again and spend another $200 for nothing.

Thanks.
Adam

P.S. I have 120,000 miles on the car.

If the dealer just repaired it recently, complain to them. They SHOULD repair it again at no cost, since they obviously did not fix it correctly the first time.

It may also be the clutch is bad on the compressor, or a loose connection to the compressor (both are quite rare) which would allow the clutch to drop out, and the compressor to stop compressing (just venting outside air).

Thanks J!m,

I will have them check it out again. If they want to charge me I will take it somewhere else.
