Hi everybody !
Just registered to ask a few questions ...
I'm looking for a 318ti 1998. But I can't find the specs for this year.
I'd like to have some data to compare the 318ti through the years 1995-98.
Precisely I want to know if the model came with traction control in 1998.
I think that having this data will help me to decide which one should I buy.
If someone has also some data of the 318is model, will be welcome ! :)
THANX !!

It might be different in Argentina. In the US traction control started sometime in 1996.

Thank u people !
I might sound silly... but I couldn't find the "To-Buy" thread :x
u mean 318ti 1996 with traction control ? just asking 'cause I saw the "328" in your nick.
318tis here in Argentina are imported from the US and from Germany. They should be the same as yours.
Reading here in the forums I've reached a link where I found some info. THANX AGAIN!
But nothing compares to the feedback from BMWs owners

Actually you are in the right section.
I have a 2.8 in my ti.
BMW builds cars to individual markets. What might be standard in the US is not in Canada or Europe. All US 318ti's have 4 wheel disc brakes. Some models in Europe have rear wheel drums. The US have rear wipers, some countries don't.
And just to clairfy, all 318ti's are built in Germany. The only cars that are imported from the US are the Z4 and X5.

Thank U Steven.
Some car dealer here in Argentina told me something about BMWs made in the US.
I used to have a Honda. I know they manufacture some models in Japan for the US market. Those models are known as "american made"
U r trying to tell me BMW does something alike ?

Honda has a factory in the US and so does BMW among others. The only BMWs manufactured in the US are Z4s and X5s. The ti was never made in the US.

bmw (and most manufacturers) have slight variances in their models shipped to different countries to 1. conform to laws 2. conform to the buying public 3. conform to something i haven't thought of yet.
here, we generally refer to the different models as "US-Spec[ification]," "Euro-Spec," and "<insert your country here>-spec."
the different variations in specification mean that what's normal here in the US, may not be the same for a car coming out of the exact same plant at exactly the same time that is ultimately headed to a different country.

Thanks to all of you !
I'm learning as you all post your opinions.
Up to here, I have enough to tell to that so called car salesman who told me "no man, 318ti does not come with traction control"
