Engine arn't a perfect science, so you can't say that a engine w/ xxx miles will work but.....

I would

- check the compression
- make sure that your head gasket isn't leaking anywhere
- if every thing looks good i would also replace the fuel pump w/ the SC kit because the RRFPR (rising rate fuel pressure reg) will put alot of strain on it.

I put mine on at 100,000. No problems. I'm shooting for 250,000.

I installed my DASC at about 102,000 miles and have been loving it since. I ran a compression test beforehand to make sure things were running well, but so long as your car has been maintained, you should be good to go.

And if you go with a DASC, just know that it was meant to run with a stock setup. Any upgrades you make will help, but aren't necessary.

I put mine on at 130. No problems at all. Quickest 8,000 miles of this cars life.
I was worried about it but the engine seems to be built like a brick.

i like to see my name on every post on the left hand side of most recent posts! LOL ... the mechanic i use for stuff i don't feel like doing has been trying to get me to do a DASC for awhile. that and he keeps asking when i'm getting my mirror fixed (the one that was stolen by the deer i clipped). :p well, time to go play with the half shafts ...

lol ... are you afraid i'll be driving in texas after i get it?

i'm hoping to get the damage from the deer done after i move to denver in july. i'll have to find a reputable shop there to do the work. i was planning on getting m3 mirrors to replace the stock ones too.

haha. Nah, it's just a pet peave of mine when people do mods before maintenance. It's weird that it bothers me because I have blows hatch shocks (don't work for crap) but I just bought a E30 diff, axles, and a new clutch. God I'm such a hipocrit.

well, i'm currently in process doing just that swap (e30 diff and half shafts). reason? i had a half shaft pop out and didn't notice ... until the bearings were starting to whine nicely. also hoping to get to do my brake job soon ... upgrading to e36 325 brakes when i do it (rebuilding calipers that are currently at the powdercoater). so i AM doing maintenance before mods ... kinda ... actually more or less together ;) i'm also installing the supersprint exhaust that's been cocooned in my garage for the past couple months as i do the diff swap. i'll finally be able to move some of the things from the "mods soon to be" category into "current mods." wooohooooo!

EDIT: you'll be glad to know i ordered and received all new belts, pulleys and mechanical tensioner too :) i'm very much contemplating a water pump and hose replacement too, but i don't think i can get all that done before i move to denver, maybe after.

ive got a 96 z and was told that water pump is good to replace as well as clutch. Would it be smart to install a better water pump if there is one? also would bigger injectors net more gains or just waste fuel?
