custom diff build?

I have been looking for an LSD in a 3.64 gear ratio but those from what I have heard only came in the 7-series. So does anyone know if you can take the internals from a 7-series diff and put them into a E30 diff or something, or does the 7-series diff fit.

That's the ratio of choice for me as well. Instead of considering an internal swap, look for a diff that has the same mountings as an E30 diff. I almost bought one on Ebay. It was the same casting as an E30 (3.64 LSD), without the holes drilled. The guy selling it said he had a previous one that had the holes just like an E30.
