when im accelerating hard into 3rd and 4th after i change the revs seem to drop after i have changed gears. is this called slipping???

when i change into 5th, as soon as i change the revs sit right in place it feels alot more solid gear change.

im a noob be nice :D

is it only in third and fourth gear? when my clutch went out it would just slip whenever I tried to luanch or a hard 1 to 2 shift, the revs would bounce off the rev limit with the car slowly accelerating. Also the when the clutch is hot it slips worse but let it cool and it usually grabbs better. search for a thread that talks about how to test and see if your clutch is slipping.
good luck :)

yes strangely it seems only into 3rd and 4th.
starting hard in 1st going into second fine. and 5th grabs straight away.

i tried searching but couldn't find anything, this is one of the few websites i can view at work.

it drives fine, i just notice that it seems the revs 'slip' down a bit in those gears when im accelerating hard. maybe somehting needs to be adjusted?

Usually the revs climb when you go from 3 to 4 and keep your foot in it,
if the clutch is bad. And if the clutch is bad 4 to 5 should slip as well.

At idle, Put tranny in 4 or 5 and gently let clutch out, if it doesn' imediately
stall, the clutch is on its way.

It could be your 2/3 cluster bearing is bad and its dragging while
your in 4th gear.
NOTE: Low tranny fluid will cause this followed by bearing failure.

Now I am assuming the 2/3 because if I remember right the Getrag
w/R up and left has 1rst and reverse on 1 cluster, 2/3 on a cluster
and 4/5 on a cluster. If you look at a manual with some rebuild
instructions and the gears are labeled like I described it could be
the problem. If they are grouped 1/2, 3/4, 5/R its
the idler gear bearing potentially.

Good Luck!
Dave
